Not a Problem

Wenn ich die Kompassanzeige aufrufe, funktioniert der Kompass einwandfrei.

Which arrow points north? Please provide a picture. The direction of view is indicated by red lines. Have you already read the instructions?

Same here. GPS and Compass seems to be OK. NOKIA XR 20. Android 14.

Hi,

could you please provide more information? A screenshot of the issue? What is your setup for the phone orientation - GPS-driven, compass-driven or auto change? More info: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php/manual:user_guide:settings:gps#orientation. Do you use manual map rotation? More info: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php/manual:user_guide:settings:control#manual_map_rotation. Thanks.

And what exactly is the problem? I've been waiting for more info from @Andreas Gessner but so far, nothing. Do you also have the manual map rotation turned on?

Hi Michal,

I do not use map rotation. I have two arrows, one for GPS orientation and one for magnetic orientation.
I did some more tests:
- On the S26 ultra the arrow for magnetic orientation only moves when the phone moves forward.
When the phone is not in move, only turnig the device, the magnetic arrow is fixed.
- On the S24 ultra, the magnetic arrow is turning, when I turn the phone.
- On both phones, the compass view is turning correctly.

In the screenshot you will see both phones facing south. S24 is correct, S26 points nearly to north.

Hi Michal,

I found that the setting for map orientation also works for the arrow orientation. Even though I do not use the map rotation, the arrow was affect by this setting.
And: I made a backup of the S24 and a restore in the S26, but this setting was not restored.

This setting resolved the problem.

Great news, thanks. The map rotation is a result of compass or orientation by movement, calculated from GNSS data. The same data control behavior of the orientation lines, show view (or arrows in your special custom case).

Hi Michael,

can you please take a look at my screenshots. Shouldn't the arrow look into the same direction as the orange "field of view"? I "calibrated" the compass already and checked some settings but I couldn't find out why the arrow so many times shows a other direction. Thank you for your support.

Dieter, in fact, we are wondering how you managed to display both "show view" and the compass rose, indicating the map rotation. The "show view" shouldn't appear when the map rotation is on because it 's redundant - the top of the display is always turned in the direction of view. Please update to the latest beta version available on https://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest and try it again. Thanks.

Thank's for your answer, Michal.

I already use the latest beta 4.33.0.3.

I will watch the behaviour during my next hike and will play with the settings. In case I find anything I will contact you, but for now we can close this topic.
