It works fine. Is this only possible with maps from locus or can I do this also with maps from openandromaps?

Because I think the maps from openandromaps are better than the maps from locus.

Nikolai,

do you know Themes inside locus?

menu/settings/Map advanced/Vector Maps/Map themes

please try different of them and watch the displayed map

it is also possible to load exterenal themes e.g. openandromaps

It works with openandromaps too

@balloni55

I always use the hike themes from locus

But in the maps of locus are not all trails which are on the openandromaps

Also the size of the locus map is smaller than the size of the openandromaps

Overall I would say the maps from openandromaps are better than the maps from locus

Hello Nicolai,

your question is answered (thanks guys). However, would you please give me some example which hiking trails are missing? We'll try to improve Locus Maps to contain such trails. Thanks

Petr

Hello Petr,

for example this trail is only available with the map from openandromaps. It isn't available on the map from locus

Hello Nicolai,

I'm sorry but such trails isn't even in OSM data. So there two possible reason: Trail was removed from the OSM data or OpenAdndro maps uses another source for map data. However I suggest to check the latest OpenAndroimaps. http://osm.org/go/0DLfzkSlt-

That's right

I think openandromaps use the trails from different map sources and not only from openstreetmaps

Therefore I think the maps from openandromaps have more deteiled trails as the maps from locus.

Hello Nicolai,

I'm sorry, I checked wrong trail and for this reason my previous post is not correct. Both OpenAndroMaps and Locus maps contain the trails that you mentioned in screenshot. This trail was added into OSM data two months ago. Please update on the latest Locus vector maps - version 2015-04-09. This map contains mentioned trails - see attached screenshot from the latest Locus maps. However, feel free to contact me with some issues related with Locus vector maps. Thank you

The integrated POIs (which are based on OSM data) are only available by downloading the relevant map from the Locus Store but will work for any map by using the "Points of interest" button to find nearby POIs.

As well as that, these POIs will display automatically as overlay pointson vector maps from Locus Store (with images and visibilitycorresponding to your chosen theme). They also work on vector maps from OpenAndroMaps of the same name.

If you download the England map from Locus Store, you also get an England POI database. There is no corresponding England map at OpenAndroMaps and you have to download a Great Britain map and so the automatic overlay POIs will not work without some cunning renaming.

You can also get POIs from Pocket GPS World at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=POIs (free registration needed) which can be imported into Locus as data points. These work differently from the integrated POIs in Locus, and cover some different categories. You can download suitable free icons for the points from the Locus Store | By Usage | Graphic | Point icons | Map icons Nicholas Mollet.

You can download POIs for offline usage from http://waypointer.info

On this site you can choose required POIs categories then download file in KML/GPX/WPT format.
