Is there an option to turn off tracking after the recording ends? I tend to forget about it, and then the GPS keeps running all night, draining the battery.

I like this idea 
Try settings > GPS & Sensors > Disable location when app is hidden (turn GPS off when app is running in the background and no function needs location): ON

Nope, while guidance is active GPS is needed so we need disable it first.

I think is is logical to separate the two things.
I can decide to stop recording but continuing the route guidance.
I forgot someting to stop route guidance, but the audio signal "out of the route" remind me to stop guidance.

For my friends and me, 99% of stopped recordings mean the trip is finished. So, an option similar to 'upload track after stopping the recording' would be highly appreciated.
