Map themes
In Progress
Locus (Gold) 4.33.0 (Windows 11)
How can I properly disable map themes (icons for schools, shops, sports centers, etc.)?
These icons scale very poorly on the map — they do not shrink when the map is zoomed out, which clutters the map screen badly.
I have already reported this issue before, but as usual there has been no response.
Additionally, it also seems that Locus does not allow third-party themes (for example, Elevate) to be displayed, and instead forces only its own themes.

Hi Waldemar,
"How can I properly disable map themes (icons for schools, shops, sports centers, etc.)?"
- do you mean LoPoints? You can deactivate them in the map content panel, see https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php/manual:user_guide:mainscr_lpanel#lopoints
"These icons scale very poorly on the map — they do not shrink when the map is zoomed out, which clutters the map screen badly."
- the LoPoint icon number is reduced progressively when zooming out. You can set the default size of the icons in settings > points&tracks > LoPoint icon size
"I have already reported this issue before, but as usual there has been no response."
- we always reply to all your inquiries
"it also seems that Locus does not allow third-party themes (for example, Elevate) to be displayed, and instead forces only its own themes."
- this is also not true - Locus Map supports external themes for vector maps supporting version 4 of the MapsForge map rendering engine, including Elevate by OAM, see https://www.openandromaps.org/kartenlegende/elevation-hike-theme

If you install OAM on your phone using the OAM auto-installer, the theme will be installed at the same time.

Hi Michał,
do you really consider this good scaling?!
Screen content > Other POIs – and there you only have Poland OAM (with no option to choose which POIs should be displayed), and Elevate is missing entirely!!!!
And most importantly: Elevate uses completely different icons than the clunky ones from Poland OAM or LoPunkty.

Waldemar,
please download and install the latest beta version from https://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest to prevent any misinterpretations.
1) what version of LoMap do you use? Where exactly does this occur? Please send coordinates of the place for testing.
2) you are mixing two features together:
- map theme - a scope of parameters defining the visible content of the map
- points of interest - database of locations with metadata, displayed as another layer above the map
Map themes are managed and controlled in the map content panel:
The "Elevate" theme by OAM offers a selection of additional categories to display:
The Elevate theme can also display points of interest but only as a part of the map, NOT in a separate dynamic layer with metadata:
If you want to browse or search the database of OAM points of interest , open the map content panel, section "Other POIs" and select the relevant POI database (it usually has the same name as the map). Here you can tap a category, e.g. "hotel". The app lists a selection of nearby hotels:
Tapping the top right corner button displays the POIs on the map and you can use it as a separate map layer:

Michał,
I understood what Elevate means and what LoPoints are.
As for the map, I always keep up to date with the latest version of LoMaps
(I have the Gold version).
But you didn’t address the scaling issue. As you can see in my screenshots, the scalability of those POI icons is unfortunately terrible — when there are many of them, it becomes completely UNUSABLE.
