Setting not saved/restored to/from backup

Tomáš Janoušek shared this problem 8 years ago
Solved

For some strange reason, the Track recording → profile → Preferred folder setting gets lost when I backup my settings in Locus Pro and restore them in Locus Free Beta, or vice versa. I haven't tried whether the Pro/Free combination is necessary to reproduce it, I just noticed for the third time than whenever I switch between the two saving/restoring settings through backup this setting gets lost. :-)

Hello Tomáši,

which version of Locus Pro are you using? Because in 3.8.0 and below was small issue that should cause this, but it was fixed in 3.8.1. Anyway I expect that you already have new 3.8.2 version, right?

Have to try it and simulate ... thanks for now.

Exported from Pro 3.8.2 this morning and imported into Free Beta 3.8.2.3.

Ah, such a "stupid" issue in export and restore of settings. I read already a few times that users lost some settings and I had no idea how it may be possible. And you found an easily reproducible problem, excellent. Should be fixed in next version!

Just be aware that already existing backups generated by versions older then 3.8.2.4 are invalid and probably missing this settings.

Thank you!

nice information B)

"invalid" exactly means:

only "the Track recording → profile → Preferred folder setting gets lost"

Right?!

Unfortunately not, this is the worst part. All settings that store special number type "long".

In practice it means that probably Locus till now (all the years) do not restored for example some previously used folders for import, navigation (permanent storage), I see that also defined times for automatic backup and some other not so important parameters like last visible tab in certain screens etc. As I see, it is around 40 affected settings, but non of them is important as this one.

Ah I see also wheel revolution for BT and ANT sensors and Screen auto-off turn of times ...

Heh .. so nice it is fixed :).
