Data path setting

Hi,

I could not find this on the wish list, so here we go.

How about making it configurable where Locus stores its data? On my SGS2 it is /sdcard/external_sd/Locus. This is fine most of the time, but the external SD card is slower than the built in /sdcard, which shows when rendering vector maps or scanning large spoiler directories. It would be nice to have the choice where the main data path is.

_Maybe_ it would make sense to give options for the main data path, map storage (vector and download), spoilers, $more_data_directories. Would be nice for GPX data, too.

To make things easy, maybe if main data path is set, default values for all else will be filled in automatically.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Chris

Chris, there is no wish because this is already implemented.

Please check Locus->Settings->Various->Directory with maps.

But be careful, some people (those which frequently change their ROM) had trouble with this.

Yes, I know it exists for maps. But for maps only, not for spoilers et.al.

some people had troubles with this? I hope no ...

Chris, did you tried to take whole Locus directory on SD card and place it on internal memory?

Sorry Menion, regarding the trouble (which was of course finally fixed) just 2 recent issues:

don`t understand tommi, there issues are still in Locus so moving whole directory from internal memory to sd card (or opposite), don`t work correctly?

No, I didn`t want to say that Locus is buggy in this area but Locus reaction seems a bit sensitive if it comes to changed environment e.g. by change of ROM. I`m not sure if there is anything to be improved in Locus. I only wanted to point out that few guys had problems in this area.

OKi, understand. You`re correct of course. I still don`t have simple solution for this. Almost every ROM has it`s own path to external memory (SD card) and it`s total mess. I can obtain some path from Android but there`s no sure that it`s path to SD card or just some internal memory etc.

But I hope that current system works fine now. Maybe some "for quite a long time" wanted settings for specify exact root Locus directory ... hmm

Everything works fine if I move Locus from external SD to internal SD. However, I would like to move the spoiler data only, since my internal SD is rather full. It would also be nice to set other paths explicitly, like gpx export, field_notes.txt, mapsOnline...

ok understand, but for this will be needed more votes then just one :). This is a lot of new settings and a lot of work ...

Hi All:

This would be a great feature. It would by example allow to have some of the exported points sent do a dropbox folder without having to do it manually.

I have been missing for ages a possibility to sync points and tracks between different devices. Optimal would be to have actually the point database directly on a shared folder (like dropbox) and have it synchronised but this would be the high end version of the above feature.

Hope things will be done along those lines. Locus is really great and every day one expect even more from it because it has grown a key application that does just more than just showing maps and recording tracks.

Thanks.

JP
