Starting track recording from the widget, then starting and exiting Locus

Arpad Orfi shared this problem 8 years ago
Not a Problem

I’m not sure if this is a bug or by design:

I start track recording via the widget. (Locus doesn’t start entirely, and the Locus icon doesn’t show up on the notification bar. Locus works in the background.)

I want to check something, or want to do something in Locus, so I start the application.

I finished what I wanted to do in Locus, so I exit Locus. But I want it to continue to record my track.

However, if I choose Exit, not just the Locus application stops, but also the track recording that I’ve started before from the widget.

If I select “don’t exit”, then the track recording continues, but also the icon remains in the notification bar. However, I’ve finished with Locus, I only want it to silently record my track in the background.

Isn’t this possible?

Hello Arpad,

no it is not possible. Generally there is no reason for this. When you minimize Locus by home button, it will just silently sit on background, so there is no reason to close it completely.

When you start track recording from widget when Locus is closed, then really starts just a small part of Locus because it is possible to do it (technically). But generally, closing applications like Locus do, is not suggested method and I use small hack to completely terminate Locus. But this method has to terminate everything, not just part. So it is not even technically possible to terminate Locus EXCEPT track recording. Hope you do understand me, thanks.

Hello Menion,

Thanks for the explanation.

Now I understand.

Now I know that I shouldn’t exit the application if there is a track recording is in progress, even if the recording was started outside the application, i.e. from the widget.

Thanks,

Arpad
