Biking: Display Cadence/Speed from Wahoo BT sensor

Answered

Hallo,

I've connected a Wahoo Cadence+Speed sensor to my S4 mini via bluetooth. Locus pro find the sensor(s) and displays their data in the "connect screen" (where I can enable/disable the sensors). Both values are real/correct!

But when I add the sensor data to a dashboard, there is nothing displayed (no latest/current data; the field itself of course appears). I am used to customize dashboards, and I display my bluetooth heartrate successfully, but the speed/cadence data is not shown. Do you have an idea what I am doing wrong? Do you need additional data to answer?

I am using latest version of Locus.

Thanks,

Richard.

Hallo,

I tried it with another smartphone (also S4 mini, same cyanogenmod version, same LocusPro version) and everything worked fine and as expected. I do not know why it doesn't work on the first one.

So I have no problem anymore. :-)

Thanks,

Richard.

Hello Richard,

quite interesting it works for one device and not for another. If you see values in "Connect screen" (Bluetooth manager) and also have enabled GPS with valid location (GPS fix - so Locus has information about your location, movement), you should see values also in dashboard.

Anyway glad it works now. In case of troubles, feel free to write me.

Hi Menion,

I was indoors during my first attempt, so probably I didn't have a gps fix. That may explain the difference.

I didn't expect to get speed + cadence data only when I have a gps fix.

Thanks for the additional information.

Since it works for me now, I won't retest it with gps fix on the first smartphone. :-)

Btw, I am a big fan of Locus. Excellent work!

Understand. Currently it is needed, because location (object in code) is a bearer of all recorded sensor values. This will probably change in future, but for now it is needed.

Glad you like it ;). Have a nice day.

Hi Menion,

sorry to bring this topic up again, but I am experiencing problems with the latest Locus version (3.16.0). The Wahoo Sensor is connected (and paired), but does not show data anymore ("no valid data" or similiar message in locus in the bt dialog). Polar H7 pulse is working fine at the same time. As you can see in the postings above, the speed/cadence sensor worked fine before.

I remember doing an update from 3.14 to 3.16 a week ago or so (no other apps updated, no OS updates, never touch...). I got the problem right with the first ride after the new locus version. Maybe there happened something in the meanwhile which causes this problem?!

I changed the battery, but that does not solve the problem. I also had GPS fix :-), but that didn't help either.

I did not test the sensor with any other app (I don't like installing the wahoo app). :-/

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks,

Richard.

Tomáš was a few seconds faster, thanks :). New version will be probably published tomorrow. I'm just doing last tests and preparing release.

Hi Menion,

thanks for perfect support. I've seen that you already published the 3.16.1 bugfix version.

Bye.
