Locus is crashing everytime I try to open a cache listing

Solved

Locus is crashing for me, everytime I try to open some caches of series.

For example this one: http://coord.info/GC67TXG

Most of these 50 mysteries are not opening, but all other caches are working fine.

That's curious

Maybe there is something in the listing...?

@balloni55: thanks for a report, this helped a lot!

I found that this is an issue caused by improved handling of a new lines in logs. Issue is anyway in Android itself, not in Locus code. Fortunately I was able to simulate exactly same issue on older Huawei device and found also a "hack" how to display log without a crash.

So sorry for a complications. In next version issue will be fixed together with improved (faster and with lazy-loading) loading of logs for display (currently a log of logs really slowed down display of cache screen).

Update:

The problem only appears, when I am updating the cache details...

After updating the corrected coordinates, the listing is no more opening, but crashing the whole time.

Hello guys,

is really a problem that Locus crash? There is need to make a difference between two states

a) there is really some problem and Locus ends with "Force close" - this means that you should see an dialog "Application was closed", or something similar

b) or Locus just incorrectly do some hard work and block main user interface. Then you may see something like "Application is not responding", but in this case, you just have to wait a while, till work is done and Locus starts to work again as expected.

In case, you update a logs over Geocaching4Locus, there will be around 100 logs. And convert these 100 logs into "good looking text", is quite complicated work, that Locus incorrectly do just during a start. Give it a try and let it work for a while and tell me your results. Thanks.

Same for me.

For me it's not depending to "update logs", but "refresh listing"...
