Hi, I'm with Android 5.0.1 on Samsung S4. Can I move downloaded maps on SD card?

If yes, I can't understand how...

Thanks for any help

should be the same for you.

If not - we should update the faq :)

Hi Tom,

the article Gynta posted (thanks Gynta) refers to moving Locus as a whole or its default directories. If you need just maps to me moved, move them anywhere you like on your SD card and tell Locus where you stored them - http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external

Thank you!

I already read the Gynta link, 'cause I tried to move only maps, even if, if possible, I'd move the app too. But I failed! I thought they will be moved, but really don't and I couldn't understand why! Then I read about that issue (Gynta link), so i wrote here.

So, Michal, if I have already downloaded Locus' maps (not from other sources), there is no issues to move them or the app on the SD?

You can move Locus app too (as is described in the article posted by Gynta) but as a matter of fact we don't recommend it. The best results can be achieved only with Locus installed in inner memory. However, you can move your SRTM, vector maps and backup folders to SD and redefine paths to them in settings > miscellaneous > default directories (then restart Locus)

Ok, thanks. When I thought to already do that, maps didn't seen to be moved. Maybe I didn't restart... ok, I try...

I managed that by using the FAT32 format on the SD card on a rooted Android (I use Cyanogenmod). That eliminates the file system rights and everything is working. If you use a SD card larger than 64 GB you need a tool like h2format for Windows to format the SD card with FAT32. Be aware that this doesn't support files larger that 4 GB.

Yes, the limitations with writing permissions do not matter for rooted devices, as is stated here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat#who_is_involved

They do. If you format a 64 GB card in your rooted Android device card

it still won't work. Android will format it as exFAT. You need FAT32,

even when rooted. I noticed that, when I moved from 32 GB (default:

FAT32) to 64 GB.

I moved the complete Locus installation to the external card.
