Map objects clickable - sometimes

Jürgen Holm shared this question 7 years ago

Hi,

sometimes all objects (ruins, mountain peaks,..) from the vector map (opennandromaps, svg theme) are clickable, sometimes not.

This is very handy while creating a track. I click on a park bench an I am able to add this point to the track. I'm desperate because I don't understand the mechanism: clickable or not and currently nothing is clickable!

Is there a locus setting? Depends this on the installed map theme?

Hello Jürgen,

You probably use maps downloaded from OpenAndroMaps (OAM) maps and Locus LoMaps downloaded from Locus store. LoMaps from store contains offline POI database it enable to search nearest points and also to click on point on map to get name or type of POI. More about offline POIs http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:locus_maps_pois

I'm not sure but as I know OAM map does not offer such feature and that could be probably the cause of mentioned inconsistence. I mean that LoMaps map is click-able but OAM map isn't. However especially bench should not be click-able at all.

Used theme doesn't influence the click feature. However is there any object that is not click-able but the same object on the same map is click-able on different place / area?

Best regards

Hi Petr,

yes you are right. I bought a Lomap and had also installed OAM maps. Locus is switching automatically between these vector maps. This was the cause of my problem. Sad to read, that is possible to select only one osm.db file. If I on a border between 2 Bundesländer in the Harz I have to switch the DB for every search.

So, I would be nice to select more DBs or to download one DB for a whole country. OR, is it possible to join the sqlite3 files?

Thanks a lot.

See here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/pois-missing

Obviously, merging the DBs is easily possible. I would also like to be able to select more than one DB at once...

You can combine the POI DBs from Locus with OAM maps. If you rename the OAM map to the resp. xyz.osm.db

This is fine if the granularity is 1:1.

If there are more POI DBs that OAM maps, you can take a small map and copy/rename it to match the Locus POI DB file names.

I am not aware of the other situation (more OAM maps than LO POI DBs).

Nice and and very helpful tip. Today I loaded Germany from lostore, but OAM is more up to date and monthly updated.

Hello Jürgen,

we do not provide separate POI DB. POI DB is part of LoMaps. Joining two databases is technically possible but there isn't any "one click" tool for it.

However the suggestions from other guys (thanks for it) are correct. Name part of db file has to be the same as name part of map file. In such situation Locus uses POI DB file with map file.

Thank you

Sorry for my post above, of course I meant "not easily possible".

Anyway, thx for the tips Petr & others, but I think that doesn't solve the problem of having to change between several DBs when being close to a border. I will add a new Idea.
