Show a localized photo in locus

Hi!

if I want to show the position of a localized photo in locus I do the following steps:

  1. I'm in the gallery,
  2. I see the photo and type the share button.
  3. share with total commander to copy the file into an empty directory
  4. start locus -> search -> localized photos -> select directory and navigate to my directory
  5. select my photo.

It would be nice to have locus in share selection from the gallery.

Or, is there a better way to see the location in locus??

ps: Step 3 is needed, bacause scanning the whole DCIM directory takes very much time.

Hi Jürgen,

share, i don´t know

try following:

- start with your step 4 and navigate to your gallery folder

- click hook button in top panel, now preview of all localiced photos are visible

- click on photo which position you are interested

- window opens with map preview of photo position

Your are right, but with 500 or more photos in the gallery the scan takes several minutes!

understand, so do it one times, click screw driver and select all, click once more screw driver and import all to a POI folder. Now you can display or hide them as you like

EDIT: the selected are temporary visible in map without importing

Yes this works, but.. For one new photo I have to rescan the whole gallery!

So I think it would be nice to have the ablity to send a photo via share function to locus.

Hello guys,

in one of next Locus versions (probably 3.18.0) will be added option to specify folders with photos, that Locus will monitor and it's content will be placed on a map automatically. So no need to add photos manually.

Hi Menion,

it would be nice, if you add a fix to locus to update the android gallery if a new photo was taken (POI with photo) and stored in data/media/photos. Currently the new photo wasn't displayed in the android gallery. One have to reboot or start a tool like media.Re.Scan (nice little tools!) from the play store to show the picture.

Good day Jürgen,

thanks for a suggestion. Will be improved (fixed) in next version.

Hi, I have a issue with this feature in the latest version (3.18.2).

First, not all images are shown on the map after first import (I added both internal and external storage).

Second, new images don't show up.

Good day Jens,

you added directly directory with images? Locus search for images only in selected directory, not in any sub-directories. Also are you sure that all images you expect to see, have a coordinates? Same for new images.

Thanks :) I expected it to perform the scan recursively.

I have another issue though, when I hover over an image it gets expanded. But not all images collapse once I move the cursor.

Furthermore, there is lots of flickering on moving.

Other than that, great feature!

Just to jump on the thread, just started using localized photo layer today, I second the fact that it would be great to recursively include subfolders

Also locus onl;y shwos images geotagged with coordinates, wheres some other galleries and apps show photos tagged with places. and so if you use a tagging app that sets place in exif, it wont show in locus.

How can I import pictures from the external storage(SD card from my Galaxy S5 with latest Android). I can not see any path to the external storage when I try to add the folder. Any ideas? Thank you...
