Downloading Online maps for Offline use

John Moulson shared this problem 9 years ago
Not a Problem

When I click on the plus sign I get the choice of "Offline maps download" or "External Maps". Choosing "External Maps" option opens up a dialog box headed Personal Maps which asks me to Add New File/Directory. I want to use the existing directory but whatever I do the box remains. Never had a problem with this before. Am I missing something obvious?

Using Locus 3.18.4

Sorry. Yes, external maps appears and clicking on that brings the box back.

Let's sum it up:

1) you click plus sign

2) external maps appears

3) you click external maps

4) the box appears

If this is as is then it's correct.

Apologies!! I now realise to download an online map for offline use I need to go into the list of online maps, tap on the 3 dots, then select download. Sorry for being so stupid.

Michal, trouble si that we have split bottom "+" menu into online/offline part. And previous "download map" is now lost and maps has to be downloaded over context menu of every map. There is a lot more users that complain on this on Google Play, because previously clearly visible download button is not on it's place, that's all.

We discussed reasons for this solution and all of us agreed. 1) downloading online maps is not our priority and is a burden to the online map servers, 2) we want people to download our own offline maps, 3) add-new-map menu was too complicated for new users
