Storm alarm

Many phones have a barometer that is possible to use for weather alarms based on a pressure change during a short time period. It is important feature for hikers that is implemented in many sport watches, like in Garmin Fenix or Suunto (you can use videos on youtube or manuals as example for required settings).

Good day Roman,

quick search on Google Play found for example this, nice looking tool https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jied83.barotool.barotool . I believe, that such feature may be easily used over any other, 3rd party application, so there is no need for direct implementation of this feature into Locus Map. Thank you for understanding.

I have it in my watch, so I don't need it. But sure, anybody can use 3th part app for it, but I like when one app is able to cover everything. In case somebody uses track recording, then it is very simple to analyse pressure change (altitude is recorded, so the same reading can be used for analysis) and in this case it will eat much less battery. So it could be very simple to implement and for many people this could be really useful (i.e. available in Pro version) addition.

But yeam it is your application, you are the boss :)

Understand. Huge advantage of Android is wide range of options, wide range of applications on Google Play, specialized on simple tasks. Locus Map is not correct example as it already do quite a lot of tasks. But this one from my point of view definitely belong to separate application.

Hello Menion, would it be complicated to write Locus addon which will paint and periodically update a transparent layer with weather radar snapshots over current map?

I'm thinking of making a separate request for it.

Hello,

do you want to try to create such add-on? :). Because I personally do not have a time for this except case, it will be directly available as online tiled map (or WMTS map).

Anyway I believe it is doable. There is a few options how this may be achieved, in case you have an access to these information.

- simple online map in case, such data will b available as slippy map/Google maps tile format

- own server that will do all necessary work and just forward required images to Locus as a simple map

- map created over KML GroundOverlay feature

- using Locus API as a special custom map (not yet fully ready to use).

Sounds like a great add-on.

A radar add-on would be of no use to me, nor would a barometric alert.

In my country (Canada) I can already get radar via a weather app, and it includes a last-three-hours animation. That last part is most useful, yet might be the most challenging part to implement inside Locus. Why bother?
