Dashboard: Slope value in % (Percent) - not in ° (Degrees)

Please show the Slope Value (not the one from the GPS values, that is OK, but from "Verschiedenes") in PERCENT, not in degrees!

Hello A. Bodner, please change the category to ideas. I vote for this idea.

One year is gone since my first proposal to have the slope value, derived from the acceleration/gravity sensor (Dashboard editor: Basic Items - Various - Pitch) in percent, not in degrees. For cycling the steepness of the road is a very important value. The Slope value from the GPS value group is in percent, but it changes from 0 to 20 on a road with constant 10%! (Maybe it is really derived from GPS height, not from the barometer height?) In any case the value from the accelerator sensor is much more accurate, it is used in all the apps which measure angles. Of course for cycling appropriate damping is important! And it is working also without motion! LocusMap is my favorite app for cycling up to now, but I can't bear it any longer to see 357,3° for 10%!!! Excuse my anger, but I am really fed up, that the developers ignore this BUG (it is really not a feature) up to now!

You may have to wait a bit longer... quite likely until hell freezes over. Locus has never put much emphasis on altitudes... the team lives in a flat city in a flat country and is more interested in supporting the hunt for little tupperware boxes than in mountains. A sad fact for mountain enthusiasts... but there's no point in keeping your hopes up when there is no hope.

Oh well... the software has other very strong points... just enjoy these and move to a flat country. Problem solved :).

I would love for this to get implemented. Displaying gradient on dashboard is currently useless. It probably goes without saying but there will need to be an offset/ correction factor because the phone when mounted on handlebar is in general not flat.

Good day,

I'm looking on this "problem" for a while. I've even created new settings into Settings > Localization & units with option "Slope units > percent, angle". Anyway when I look at it, for me it look more and more correct as it's now.

Slope value is indeed computed from received locations and it's altitude values, so it may be sometimes little "jumpy". For now, I may only suggest stronger elevation filter till I improve inner filtering in Locus code.

Values for pitch and roll angles are anyway based on whole range of possible rotation around axis, so they these values are in range of 0-360°. And here comes the problem. What you wants is to format common bearing/heading based on preferences for "angles" preferences, but format pitch and roll angles based on "slope" preferences. I'm sure, there will be people who will wants to keep current system as is because percents and degrees, both are supported logical values for a slope ...

So quite complicated task to find here some compromise from my point of view.

And btw. "angry" ... feel free to be. All Locus developers are lazy guys as you may see on list of unfinished tasks ... http://help.locusmap.eu/topics/idea/status/1/category/all/sort/popular/page/1

EDIT:

Btw. pitch and roll values may be calibrated in compass screen by tap on small pitch/roll view > calibrate
