When I want to select an area for download, I don't see a background map to select from

When I want to download an area, I go to online maps, select a country, and then I want to select a region. I don't see the map of the country so I cannot see whether I am selecting the right area. Do I have to apply some settings to see the map of which I want to select an area?

Hello Arie

you don´t tell us which onlinemap and which country you want to download.

And some online maps are not available all over the word in all zoomlevels.

e.g. USGS Orthophoto >details zl 0-18 in US, but in europe it is only available up to zl 8, so if you open this map with e.g. zl 10 in europe you will see no map

So try a map e.g. USGS on zl 4 move map on display to country you want to download.

Now change to online map you want and zoom in

Hi. I tried the Hike and Bike map from Luxemburg. Then I tried to select an area. But could not see the underlying map of Luxemburg. I am in the Netherlands.

unfortunately as you may see, Hike&Bike web site is down: http://hikebikemap.org/

In Locus, all requests return "Timeout" so it may be just temporary problem on Hike&Bike server. Give it a while ...

Hi Guys.

Thanks for your efforts to solve the problem. Hike & Bike is back again, and now I can select areas while seeing the underlying map. Thus the problem seems to be solved. I don't know if it had something to do with the server-problems.

Perfect, glad to hear it. Problem was definitely on map server, not directly in Locus.
