Good day Ricardo,

if same issue do not happen in Google Earth (which is nice method how to test file on desktop computer), please share you KMZ file with us (you may attach it here as zip file), so we may test it as well. Thank you.

Yes, the Image Overlay in Google Earth is displayed in high resolution. Locus displays it on low resolution.

The kmz file is attached.

Thanks,

Good day Ricardo,

problem in this case is that your file is really really huge (more then 7 MB!) so Locus Map loads it with reduced quality to prevent some memory problems. I've improved it little bit to next version, so it will be more sharp then now, but still probably not perfect. Solution here is to create a pyramid of images in KMZ and also split this huge file into more separated tiles not bugger then recommended 1024 x 1024 pixels.

Thanks Menion for the feedback

These big files are provided by local government, if I split them i have to geotag them again. And they are so many!

I understand the memory limitation issue, but I wish Locus could offer an option "Do you want to Locus rescale?" We could choose depending the size of the file. Today's smartphones have 3 or 4 GB of memory, they are more capable than years ago.

I hope you consider my request. Thank you.

Good day Ricardo,

good idea. I may imagine that it may work in exactly same way like "On board calibrator" feature. This feature already supports loading of bigger images and their converting to separated ground overlay feature with many smaller map tiles.

Anyway such task is quite a lot of work, so if you are really interested in it, please create a separate idea for this, so other may votes for it.

As I see, there were similar question by balloni some time ago ( http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/on-board-karten-kalibrator ), but advanced method how to handle such huge files were never created.

Thanks for understanding.

Hello Ricardo

what is your main target?

- if you want to use the pois and tracks import content of your .kmz to poi and track folder for individual use

- if you want to use this map with high resolution use e.g. program "mapc2mapc" and build easy a .sqlit map

copy .sqlite to locus/maps

Hello Menion,

Thank you for improving loading of large KMZ ground overlay maps in the 3.21.0 version. It's almost perfect already! This fast support is what makes Locus so complete!

Hello Balloni55,

Thanks for sharing Mapc2mapc, it seems great! But in my case, I still prefer to use Ground Overlay.
