Find the shortest route

Hi! If I want to plan a route between two points on the map, the app doesn't find the shortest route. However there is a path marked on the map with red line, the app finds a much longer route. How can I solve this problem? Thanks!

Hi,

try a different routing service - settings >navigation > navigation data source. However, I don't understand that part with the red line.

Hi,

I have tried to change the navigation data source, but there were only 3 options (MapQuest, Yours, OSRM), but only the first was able to plan a route on hiking trails. The red line that I have mentioned is the symbol of hiking trails on 4UMaps/Outdoor map layer. So I can see on the map that there is a shorter option to go to a point, but the App doesn't find/calculate it, only a longer one.

Hi,

most probably neither MapQuest or YOURS have the "red-line" route mapped in their databases. Try to install BRouter routing engine - it cooperates with Locus, after its installation you'll find it among navigation data sources. I can confirm that I had a better auto-routing experience (for hiking trails) using BRouter than MapQuest.

Several months ago, I updated the location of an Adirondack hiking trail shown in OpenStreetMap.

Last week, I used MapQuest for auto-routing and it created a route following the old, outdated trail. It suggests MapQuest's routing reference (for hiking trails) may be up to several months out of date (it may also depend on the region).

I installed BRouter and it auto-routed along the updated trail. It suggests BRouter's routing reference (for hiking trails) is more up to date.

Hi,

I have installed the BRouter and it seems to be working!

Thank you!

Hi Taras,

I'm glad to hear the good news. I personally use BRouter too and I consider it the best among OSM-based routers.
