With the confirmation that this is doable in http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/sd-card-external-storage, but Menion putting it aside for now, let's see via voting how much interest there is in the community ...

hi folks,

i would be free to decide myself what to put where. it seems like dictating if the possibilities are not exhausted!

New smartphone have 100 GB and more. In the future, we do not need to outsource externally.

Many people do not want to join the madness (or did not have the money) buying every year a new phone. I like my old S5, probably with Nougat in the future if this idea becomes true.

please vote for this idea if you like it, or going go use lineageOS Nougat.

100 GB is nothing - memory capacity in smartphones will always lose the rats race against 1000s of photos, tons of videos - any some maps, too :-)

So you add 200 GB of external SD - at a reasonable price meanwhile. I 100% agree with Jürgen.

Hi,

seems to me, that this idea isn't successful or needed. I cannot use internal memory for data/media be because of too much videos/photo.

If you plan to upgrade to Nougat (LAOS) because you didn't get updates anymore from your vendor: wait. Xposed is under development. This will hopefully solve this problem (write access for Locus to external SD card).

Sadly to say, I would rather see this missing config feature in Locus settings.

Hi,

for all of us using MM (with Xposed) and cannot upgrade to Nougat because of having a huge amount of POI data (media/ directory cannot be on the ext SD Card) which doesn't fit in the internal SD card: there is a ray of hope

The developer of Xposed rovo89 say said: "..stay tuned". There is an ongoing development which will help us to fix this Locus missing feature with Xposed (and XinternalSD)!

Good News: Problem solved!

If you are on 7.0 or 7.1 try Xposed for Nougat. If you are running LOS 14.1 the chance that Xposed is work is very very high!

  • Install correct Xposed for SDK24 or SDK25. Wipe Davlik/ART
  • Start Xposed and download/install/activate XinternalSD version 4.8
  • Configure XinternalSD: Accept suggest Path to internal SD (in my case /storage/E82E-2AC0) This is the path to the real external SD. Click on Activate for specific app: Select locus
  • Reboot
  • Reconfigure Locus

I'm using lineageos 14.1 for Samsung Galaxy S5 (klte) nightly 20170802 with this Xposed zip file. Runs like a charm.

So from my side this Ideas isn't need anymore.

2nd way to solve this problem:

If you cannot install Xposed because this isn't supported for your Android version, there is a 2nd way to make your external SD read-write (root is required also!).

You have to modify 2 jar files on the /system partition. This can be done with a patch apk. For details read this xda-thread:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-allow-sdcard-write-access-switch-t3593021

BTW: there is a 3rd way: Vote for this idea

Hi Drif,

it's not possible yet. We plan to implement it, though. For now, vote here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/supporting-datamedia-and-export-folders-on-external-sd

Hi, I've just scrapped my Garmin GPSmap, bought Locus Pro and a Samsung XCover4 and I'm happy :-)

Next I realised the phone has only 16GB internal, of which 7 are free :-(

So I bought a 64GB SD card, put lots of maps there and I'm happy again :-)

Now I would like to be able to put exports on the card, too, so if you can do it, that'll be great!

Frank
