Misleading BRouter message if road is unsealed

Andrew Heard shared this problem 6 years ago
Not a Problem

This is probably a BRouter issue but I thought I'd mention it here just in case. If the selected navigation profile has "Avoid unpaved" selected (as below), and the track being added IS on an unsealed road, then a misleading message is displayed that "from-position not mapped in existing datafile". This is incorrect. It is just that BRouter cannot compute a suitable route to avoid the unpaved road. It took a few experiments and fresh downloads of BRouter RD5 files to realize where the problem lay. If Locus has control over this error message then it could be improved.

Find explanation of misleading BRouter error message here. Thanks Poutnik. Eventual profile improvements could be incorporated into internal Locus Trekking*.brf data too.

Hi Andrew,

Menion is out of office this week but he's been informed about this topic.

Hi Michal. Now I understand the problem, any improvement needs to be in BRouter rather than Locus, although other Locus users may be interested.

Hi guys,

it is correct that these messages comes from BRouter itself, not Locus Map. No sure if there is any option how Locus Map may get some error number and display to users better error message, but I'm worried there isn't.

Btw. profiles in Locus Map are already quite old and it should worth to update them. So if You or Poutnik will have some updated versions for me, I'm really gladly update them in app. It so long that I do not even remember if on forum is any topic where we discuss this ... hmm :).

A bit off topic, but kind of related.

This is the message if routing to private road with car profile... Hike or bike will work ok.

Kind of cryptic :-)

Kind of cryptic? VERY cryptic. But again, needs improvement in BRouter app, not Locus app.

@menion - the Locus/ Poutnik profiles are 2.4.11 26/5/2016, and the latest Github profiles are 2.5.6 25/4/2017. Poutnik will hopefully explain whether further improvements are planned.
