IGN France - what the hell is going wrong with them !

sl91 shared this problem 6 years ago
Solved

I have just purchased 1 year subscription for the French IGN Topo map in Locus Pro 3.24.3. I have done so because I have seen that one was able to download the maps for offline use. They (IGN) state that this procedure is unlimited in any way....but when I try to download a limited area (10km x 10km ) with all available zoom level, I have a message saying that the maximum download for one day is 10.000 tiles. I have to process the download during many days. Is this an issue or something normal. If this behaviour is normal:

1- It is a shame for IGN

2- There is no advantage to choose this subscription. The Locus - addon Map Tweak does the same...for free

Best regards

Good day sl91,

I'm not sure what maps add MapTweak app, anyway I just rather tested IGN maps in Locus Map and downloaded without any problem over 20k tiles for map of Paris. So it seems our implementation works correctly.

Please check if you really use IGN maps you purchased and not some maps added by MapTweak ( all external maps has by default limit 10k tiles ).

Locus Map official IGN maps has this detail screen for your confirmation ( screenshot ).

Thank you for the answer. Indeed... I was downloading from Geoportail, which is provided by MapTweak. I found the online IGN. I started the whole country download (more than 500.000 tiles). It seems that there is no limitation but if I pause the download process, I got some strange error 81 while resuming.

Good day,

thank you for finding this serious problem and sorry for a complications.

If you do not want to wait on next public version ( or other users that may be stuck on same issue ), here is a special Locus Map Free Beta version that may be used for this downloading.

Download: http://nas.asamm.com:8080/share.cgi?ssid=0mEbGjx

Additional note: 500.000 map tiles is really "crazy" number and I highly suggest to use any vector map as base map for a whole country and download only few most interesting areas or at least split county to more map files. With such huge number of tiles in a single file, I believe that map starts to be really really slow.

Menion,

Thank you. I will wait for the next stable version.
