Good day Willy,

quite interesting. When you tap on "yes" and Locus Map not appear in the list, screen on/off functionality of Locus Map works for you or not?

I can't imagine this as a problem directly in Locus, so I may at least suggest simply restart your device. Such cure usually helps well!

Does not appear in list and does not work.

Same issue remains after restart. Not solved.

(btw older versions of DTSO also where not accepted as device admin....new latest updated version of DTSO is succesfull.)

Not urgent....as I have very little time for newer (logcat) experiments. Sorry.

For your info: App Proximity Lock/Unlock also is directly accepted as Device admininistrator.

Hi Menion,

I found a solution:

https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/171907/apps-not-appearing-in-device-administrators

Locus (install) should be forced to use internal ? It solved the problem.

I thought adoptable storage would automatically solve all external sd card issue's but no.

From A 4.4 and up always new surprises. Want to have have grey hair ? Use new Android version.

I would prefer less Android versions updates but prefer stable, less changed OS.

I am a little bit lost now where precisely all those (Locus) files are stored now.

The apk file is in internal ? The maps are stored on that (adopted) external sd card ?

No idea. Even by app "Diskusage" no precise info ?

Correct info "adoptable memory/Locus" should be very welcome in the Locus manual.

(I do understand Locus manual is no instruction manual of always surprising new Android versions.)

Of coarse.

Good day Willy,

I was little bit desperate and gave myself some time to think about it. I'm really glad you were able to found this topic and probably also a solution.

I think that last three steps in marked answer are what you need. It is important do distinquish two parts of Android application. First part is application source, application (APK) itself ... something like install directory of windows app in c:/program files/..., second part are application data, so in case of Locus we talk about main "Locus" directory etc.

Only the first part is important here and as a user, you cannot exactly define where these source files will be stored. You may only choose if on internal or external memory. So suggest to follow three mentioned steps in StackExchange topic to change just right this first part.

I hope it will work then for you!

Sure works. But...Locus needs that manual intervention after install to move to intern ?

Other recent updated apps that needs to be device admins seems to auto-install on intern.

There exists one parameter that affect where apps should be installed by default. Locus Map has this parameter set to value "auto". Google write about this parameter: If you declare "auto", you indicate that your application may be installed on the

external storage, but you don't have a preference of install location. The system will

decide where to install your application based on several factors. The user can also move your

application between the two locations.

(more about it here).

So fact, that app was installed in your case on external card was probably caused by low amount of free internal memory or by some internal secret login of your device :).

So Locus install should not use/set that parameter to value 'auto' ?

As Locus needs to be a "device admin" for full normal functionality. Right ?

Thanks again for your quick reply and have a nice warm summer evening.

By the way, yes small memory phone. As is ONLY used for gps application(s). Operation without sim card. Why ? After an unexpected drop or expensive phone or cheap phones are both broken and worthless. A drop of expensive phones is (too) hurting. Broke my previous big battery cheap phone THL4000 by a drop. Was not happy, and the broken touch screen (I can repair..has no UV glue) is not available (or too expensive + transport) anymore...grr...grr...

Good evening Willy,

not so simple I think. This seems to be just some problem on few phones with latest 7.1 Android, not in all Android devices ( my SGS7 works without a problem ).

I'll see if more users with same problem write us. If so, I'll force install to internal memory!

Hmm I'm sorry for your device. Happy day to me that I will not receive anymore bug reports from this device :). It looks that in European Union will be some law to increase support for repairing of older devices instead of never-ending purchase of new devices. I hope it will be accepted.

Have a nice evening Willy and thank you for this topic & new information!
