Viewing caches reorganisation

Marek shared this idea 11 years ago
Completed

Hello,

I have a suggestion regarding Geocaching. When I click to a cache on the map, a small widow with basic info appears. What about adding attributes to this window and delete the first bookmark with extended basic info after click to a "cache" button, so it would open the listing instaead?

I strongly support this idea. Especially with multi caches you have to read the listing many times this would be extraordinarily klick-saving.

Maybe open listing directly only if guiding to that cache (or one of its points) is activated.

Hello guys, so what do you think about these ideas? Like or dislike?

From my point of view: I’d removed or skipped first "point window" and directly open “geocache window”. Probably on information tab but this is question for discussion. We’ll consider it in next few weeks. Menion as a main developer is on a holiday right now.

Hello. Thanks for the update! But now would even more be helpful adding attributes to the floating window and deleting the first bookmark. What do you think?

yes I was think about it. On main first screen is still more information that on floating dialog. Newly ability to edit coordinates, attributes, short description of cache, country. Soon there will be some handling of "favorites", gcVote and maybe more later ... by removing first screen, I`ll block possibility to add more information.

Floating dialog should really be just very quick overview, nothing more.

I would appreciate more comments (possitive/negative) on this idea. From my points of view, I really like current system. But here win usability and it`s quite hard to say objectively

In next version will be added support for GCVote server, so it`s next item in first screen. I hope that geocaching screen (with tabs) open correctly on last opened tab, when you repeatelly open and close same cache.

So result is, that I have to unfortunately closed this idea as "Not planned". First tab contain too many unique information, that it`s not possible to remove it completely

ok ok. Thank you for your great work, Menion!

I will wait for the new version, but in the actual version its pretty annoying to see two times the almost same data ( floating window and then Information tab). This is unneeded redundancy

agree

sorry guys, but I still see there too many differences. Merge both screens into one, seems not a good idea

first dialog screen, should serve only as a quick overview for point. Don`t forget that Locus is not specialized tool on geocaching. Even a cache may have address, attached photo, url etc. All these infos are for all points visible in this dialog.

Merging both screens will be created up to two pages (on galaxy note 2, up to around four pages on small devices) long list of key/value information ...

I understand your point of view. So what will you tell for making the Listing tab - default one, instead of opening by default the Information tab. Or make it configurable?

Menion:

As I look on these two screns, more useful is the right one. Bot owner is visible on both screens too. For me, information in the rectangle of the left screen is not so useful or could be moved to the right screen. Advanced info - useless. The other three lines are not worthy to have another screen.

Make the right screen with cross in the right corner and it will be ok.

OR - as elmuSSo wrote - make it configurable, so we can choose which panel (info - listing - logs) will be shown as the first one.

Thank you!

crazy guys ...

http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... - parameter "geocaching_screen_prefered_tab"

Huh. Tried to modify my config.cfg file, but:

- Geocaching part is missing

- manually adding this line has no influence and the line is deleted after starting Locus.

Marek, you have to wait on next public version :))

Mua mua mua! Menion, kisssing your hands, it works! But It would be better to add this option into the settings so other cachers may benefit from it.

marek as I wrote many times, I`ll still not a huge fan of this idea and also think that most people don`t care about it too much. Current solution if config file is by me ideal

And thanks for confirmation, that "it works" :)
