Recorded tracks lost after last update.

Solved

Today I wantedvto record a track and got the message that I have to define a category (whichI had done ages ago) and then I noticed that all my previously recorded tracks are all gone. I exported a couple of them a few weeks ago, but basically all tracks I recorded during October are gone :(

Any idea how I can get my data back?

Hello Henning,

are you using latest version of Locus 2.7.1? If so, did you get offer to do database conversion during a start? I already received two emails from people that have similar problem as you. They do not saw offer for conversion of database in new Locus version. Their solution was restart of phone or re-install of Locus. May you try it also please?

Hi Menion,

yes, I use the latest version and did not receive an update offer.

Reboot of the device did not help, but the re-install did the trick.

I got a message that already converted data was found, but I chose to delete this and convert again, then all my tracks were back.

Thanks for the ecellent support!

I`ve got the same initial problem using 2.7.1. I`m unable to record new tracks as an error message asks me to create at least one new category. This was after I accepted the offer to convert my databases.

I`ve uninstalled, turned off, but when I re-install the same problem persists. Even when I delete the locus folder from the sd card, and reinstall I get the same message.

Any thoughts?

Thoughts:

Create a track category.

Yes, did that first off, but same message, like the program didn`t recognise it. I tried all of the categories :(

Hi Menion,

Yes, did that after I first saw the message, as my old categories were wiped. And have tried it several other times after reinstalling the software, rebooting, and choosing to create either of the three new categories (walk, bike, drive). I am at a loss.

brendan, let`s solve this if you help me

1. install this version https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8015949/Locu...

2. install also catLog program from market, start it and from menu start recording

3. start this Free test version, display track record panel and start track recording. If you`ll have same problem, please also check once more then in data, tab "TRACKS", you can see at least one track

4. close Locus, go to CatLog program and stop recording

5. send me please text file from CatLog program and also Locus/data/database/dbTracks.db file that contain your track categories.

In log I should see some response from communication with database and maybe some errors and I also check database file.

Thank you!

Hi Menion,

The new update that my phone downloaded today fixed the problem! I had started you instructions above, downloaded catlog, but I couldn`t get to the dropbox file, I kept getting a 404 error. Anyhow, all a moot point now, but thanks for your help.

Brendan.

Had the same problem with my hundreds of points, when updating from 2.1.1 to 1.15.1 . Didn`t get conversion offer in the first place, but uninstalling and installing app new helped.
