Unable to copy .gpx file to 'Import' folder.

Solved

I wish to assist a colleague who needs to copy a particular .gpx file, downloaded from Waymarked Trails: Hiking into Windows 10 on his PC, to Internal storage\Locus\data\import folder in his Asus MeMO Pad 8 Android tablet as part of a process to view it in his newly-installed Locus Map Pro.

He receives the following message, "The folder This PC\KO11\internal storage\locus\data\import can't be used. Please choose another folder."

I do not know whether this is a Windows, Android tablet or Locus Map Pro problem.

How to correctly import and export tracks (and points) into Locus, see the manual pse.

Import: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:data_import

Export: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:export

Hope it helps.

I thank you for your constructive reply.

The documentation relates to the import of a file to Locus Map when it is in internal storage already, as I read it. My colleague's problem is that the import folder that sits in the data folder of Locus by default (so far as I remember!), the normal depository for me, is forbidden to him for some reason. I wonder, in that case, whether the answer is for him to create his own folder in internal storage?

The cause of this problem is the same as I described here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/locus-folder-not-visible-in-internal-storage#comment-47661

Hi Bob,

copy the file you want to import to Locus anywhere in the tablet. Then go to Locus > Menu > Import, find the file in the tablet memory and import it - Locus will lead you (what folder to import to etc.). Copying files into Locus/data/import doesn't work as you think - you have to import via the application.

And @TarasD has the point - communication between Windows10 and an Android device is often a nightmare, better avoid it or use some third party SW. I personally send all files from PC to Locus via Dropbox.

I have responded here: http://help.locusmap.eu/top... on a similar issue.

I am lucky, perhaps, but I have been able to connect my 'phone to my PC, see Locus>data>import in Windows File Explorer and copy my .gpx files to the import folder, always. I accept, fully, however, the alternative ways that must be implemented if this is not the case for others.

I consider my problem post resolved satisfactorily.

Easy dropbox method since: http://www.locusmap.eu/news-in-version-2-17-0/

Or autosynchronise (wifi) pc maps and phone folders by dropbox pc program and phone app dropbox/dropsync.
