I use Locus Map Pro with the Huawei Mate 10 and the samsung gear s3 and have now installed Wear for Locus Map. How do I get the application and map displayed on the Gear S3?

Hello,

unfortunately Wear for Locus Map is compatible with Android Wear/Wear OS devices but Samsung is using their own Tizen OS in their devices so the add-on is not compatible with any of Samsung watches.

Please follow this topic about Tizen OS support.

Hello!

Loccus Map Pro + Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 - I wanted to install Wear for Locus Map to the phone. It's installed, but no icon for it, so I can't open the app anyway! I rebooted the phone, uninstall and reinstall the Wear-app, but no success. Have you any idea?

Hello Tibor,

sorry about that, I see how this can be confusing, but the phone part of Wear for Locus Map has no icon and cannot be run manually it just needs to be installed on the phone.

If you have Android Wear 1.x watch, then the Wear for Locus Map should install itself automatically to the watch after some while after installing the phone part of the application. If you have Android Wear 2.x you need to install the Wear for Locus Map directly on your watch using Google Play store.

People with AW2 usually (at least I think so) install the add-on on the watch first and the application then informs you, that you also need to install the phone application part (which is not directly part of the Locus Map itself because we wanted to keep the whole Wear add-on open-sourced.)

Hope this helps and you will be able to run the add-on.

Hello, Milan,

thank you, I understand it.

Have you any solution, if the smartwatch have not Wear OS, only Android 5.1, and it has round display (Zeblaze Thor)? (Wear for Locus has no icon after installing on Zeblaze, too :(. ) (I hoped, maybe it will work.) So I can install Locus Map Free, but not so easy to use it because of the round display, some buttons are not available. Other side there may be problems installing offline maps... It would be a good idea to run the main program on the phone (and optimize te add-on to round display)...

Hello Tibor,

unfortunately Wear for Locus Map is only compatible with (Android) Wear OS and there is no easy way to port it to Android OS. By installing the add-on on your watch you have actually prepared your watch with Locus Map to be paired with Wear OS watch which is not very helpful. So Wear for Locus Map is of no use to you and can be uninstalled.

There is also no plan of supporting round screens directly on Android in Locus Map Free/Pro so the usability will unfortunately be a problem. Generally I think you will probably have this problem with the majority of the Android apps - you will not be able to install their Wear OS counterpart and the apps themselves will probably be cropped or shrunk to a square to fit the screen.

thank you for your correct answer, even though it does not contain very good news.
