New parameter i pre-filled field note, geocaching

fefrivold shared this idea 6 years ago
Completed

I use pre-filled field note, with parameters {t} and {c}. I also want {co} for the cacheowner's name. Then we can write something like "I thank {co} for this cache".

Hi John,

there's been a similar idea at our helpdesk for 9 months but without any feedback from other users - you can vote for it: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/new-parameter-i-pre-filled-field-note-geocaching. I'll merge this ticket with it.

best regards

Hi,

with the Pro Version of the Locus Addon FieldNotes this is already possible. There are the variables %cacheowner, %cachename, %cachecode, %logdate, %favorite and %gcvote available for logging.

Thanks. But it looks like this add-on is not supported any more. See it's Google+ page lots of issues

Also it does not contain found count

Totaly agree. One example from cacheSense (best geocaching app which development and support halted about a year ago.

(With such detailed YEAR MONTHNUM DAYNUM user can make date format whatever he wants.

Tyto parametry jsou super a chvalim tento napad, jen jeden mi zde schází:

{ct} or {cache_type} ... type of cache

Ve field notesu neni jinak mozne rozlisit druh kese a tohle by problem vyresilo.

These parameters are great and I praise this idea, I miss only one here. It is not possible to distinguish the type of cache in the field notebook and this would solve the problem.

Hello Roman,

understand. Enjoy it in the next Locus version.

Super, velmi děkuji a budu se těšit.

May be it will be helpful to add this info in the configuration screen. If I have not read the version info I will never know the new options. Thanks

Agree. I've already added it ... next version.

Super napad!

Good idea.

Thanks, that's great. Sorry, to be a nuisance but is it possible to add parameters so that I could put the following at the end of a log:-

Cache #? of ? found today with ? DNFs.

photo

Do not understand what should be placed into last question mark. Explain, please.

photo
1

I assume the analysis of the day.

Today 5th of 26 found today with 3 DNF

How to determine "26" is a question.

You put your finger... and you eat all! (Not just a hand) :D :D :D

photo

Yes, as Condor says. For instance, if I search for 10 caches on a particular day and find 7 and dnf three then the log for the first found cache would be:-

Cache #1 of 7 found today with 3 DNFs. The log for the second found cache Cache #2 of 7 found today with 3 DNFs.

photo
1

Ah ok ... and as Condor wrote ... how app should know that this day you will try to find 7 caches and 3 of them will be DNF??

photo

@John Moulson

the application can know and write only this:

Cache #1 of 1 found today with 0 DNFs.

Cache #2 of 2 found today with 0 DNFs.

Cache #3 of 2 found today with 1 DNFs.

...

...

Cache #50 of 45 found today with 5 DNFs.

THEORETICALLY!

+edit

I'll add that even with this model, editing issues will occur. Necessary interference with other records!

Bad.

Sorry, I haven't explained myself very well. The idea is that during the day I store my logs offline then when I've finished I edit my logs and upload them, as logs, to gc.com with these parameters. At the moment I use GSAK to do this but I would prefer to use Locus. No problem, if it's not possible.

Ah, so some kind of "post fill" after whole day is done ... understand.

It may be of course possible, but can imagine that it is a) quite a lot of work that worth b) separate idea. Anyway, it does not look to me as "must have" feature, so if it's not a big issue, I'll leave it as is now, thanks for understanding.

GSAK ignores any standards and compactibility.

It is not possible to compare the GSAK database of records sent later in a single batch.

There is a difference in the PC monitor of 30 rows of records where changes will be reflected immediately in all records. Locus works with individual records that it stores for later dispatch.

For the user, it would be complicated to understand if there were background changes. No apparent interaction of the user.

Try to think about what you want from Locus (outdoors, forest or car, bike ...) and not to make Locus work for database applications on your computer.

I use Locus exclusively for all my work (geocaching, car navigation, hiking). I want to spend the least time possible on this job. I do not want to use 10 other apps and eternal import, export, update....

I see this update live. Cool! Now off I could also define DNF template :-)

Ahoj,

chtěl bych se zeptat zda jsou i patametry pro

Difficulty, Terrain, State, Size, případně Week day?

Děkuji Honza

Zdravím Honzo,

I'll write in English to keep same language for this topic.

There parameters are not available anyway I'll add size, terrain and difficulty to the next app version. More info in updated post here.

Ahoj, nové parametry (obtížnost, terén, velikost) bohužel nefungují, všechny proměněné zobrazují typ keše.

Unfortunately the new parameters do not work(difficulty, terrain, size), all the changed ones show the type of cache.

This is how it looks when you do something too quickly few minutes before new version is published. Thanks Roman, will be fixed in the next app version.
