Does not record entire track, just crow distance between way points

The program used to record my entire track. Now, it just records distance between waypoints. For example, if I mark my car and hike two miles to a waterfall, it will only record the route "as the crow flies," and draw a straight line and say 1 mile. It doesn't record the twists and turns in my routes and the variations in elevation as I hike.

Please help!!!!!

Here's a screenshot... notice the straight green line, but I followed the trails....

I used another app and the same thing happened. Any ideas on how to fix my GPS?

Hi Eric,

check if Locus is excluded from your device battery optimization - if not then GPS is turned off when the app runs on background. More tips: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:gps_lost_fix_android6

Thanks for the help. You were correct; although I was able to use power saving mode in the past, I cannot do it anymore. I went to settings to give locus and gps status special permissions, but it still did not work in power saving mode. For me, it must be turned off.
