Question re route drawing with imported GPX files.

Hi. Jeff here and I have just bought Locus Pro which I am running on a Samsung Galaxy tab. A newbie question - if I omport a GPX file I created with the Windows tyretotravel application I just get straight lines between the route points. Should I expect to be able to show a route along the roads with the application and if so how do I get it to do that. Thanks

Hello Jeff,

I`m worried there will be no simple solution. If you import any GPX file and this file! do not contain any points, Locus is not able to compute routing data between these points. So problem here is, that GPX file from tyretotravel application, do not contain these points.

Exactly same situation is with Google MyMaps. If you draw here any track from few points and Google compute for you navigation path between these points, when you export this track, it also do not contain these between-points.

Partial solution should be draw track directly in Locus by this function http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... (mainly enable button 5).

Thank you for your response. I was hoping that since the GPX file contained a series of points that Locus could draw a route along a road between them as indeed it must be doing when one enters two or more points manually in the "add new route and measure" function that you mention.

On a similar note is it possible to import a .kml or .kmz file?

Great program by the way; heaps of functionality. Lots to learn but that is part of the fun.

Thanks and regards,

Jeff

Hello Jeff,

it`s not so simple mainly because in GPX file is not written that between these two points should be calculated route and between these no. And also because locus need internet to do this, I think it`s much better to use "Add new route" function

to KML: list of supported tags is here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu.... Some more complicated are not yet fully tested, like ScreenOverlay or NetworkLink, but should work. If you want just import points and tracks, you should simply use import feature of Locus. If you want to use GroundOverlay or other complicated tags, use Locus/mapItems possibility as is written in manual
