A few ideas from Smartmaps
Hi Menion,
I am trying SmartMaps resently. I will probably stay with Locus but there are a few nice features I would like to see in Locus as well:
- Routing (navigation) data for walking are much better is Smartmaps (for Czech republic). I understand you cannot just use their routing data but maybe you may get another idea.
- In Smartmaps planner you can add several points to your track, delete any of them, change the order and then compute a route. In Locus you can only delete the last one, you cannot change the order and cannot list what points are already added. (this feature I consider to be quite significant)
- Sun around the compas.
- POI category groups
- Searching in offline POIs should ignore diacritics.
Bugs:
- Searching in Wikipedia does not work for cs (it works for en, de, fr, es, ar, bg and probably others).
- Field location in dialog Wikipedia search contains “Map center” but choosing anything else does not work.
Thank you (regardless you find these ideas usefull or not)

Hi Daniel
Nice collection of "IDEAS".
What a pity - i`m not sure, if anybody want to vote for all this ideas together.

Hello Daniel,
- as gynta wrote, it`s on more topics which is little bit complicated here. Really suggest to post less interesting topics separately, because then it will has higher chance to realization, anyway because I know SmartMaps quite well :), so ...
1) routing - you`re right that it`s not possible to use routing of SmartMaps. It`s current not in my power to create own system, so I`m rather waiting till something usable will appear.
2) SmartMaps planner has nice advantage - it use offline routing. Then you may simply handle with points and then simply compute new route. With online routing, that takes some time to compute etc. it`s more complicated. Anyway you`re right that it may be useful. It`s anyway on separate topic (as gynta wrote)
3) sun - also on separate topic, anyway it`s planned.
4) POI grouping, not for now, sorry
5) searching in offline POI - it`s more more on bug report :)
6) wikipedia - here is content of server I use for searching - http://wikilocation.org/documentation... . Seems that server itself has some problems with CS articles
7) problem with map center - thanks, fixed
EDIT: I just noticed separate topic on wikipedia, perfect. So I`m closing this topic as not planned, because it`s not possible mark only one item

this topic is closed, but I just wanted to inform, that at least "sun around compass" is added ;) (now, so it will be in next version)
