Is there a way to get the selected waypoint via API?

Using the API is there a way to get the selected waypoint? When I say "selected" I mean when the user just touches the waypoint and it only shows the waypoint name.

I was just wondering if I can run some background tasks when user selects some custom waypoints. Anyway, at the end I didn't need such feature. Thanks.
