Too high track elevation gain

Hi, I am using LocusMap PRO since a while. I like its features and mapping possibilities. One thing I cannot understand. Though the altitude and length data seems to be ok always the cummulative ascending/descending data are wrongly calculated. What could be the reason??

Hi,

so you are writing about elevation gain/loss - what's wrong with it?

Hello, thanks for your reply. My experience is that the data is 2-3 times as much as it should be. For example in my yesterday track my altitude gain should be around 1.000-1.500 m and in contrary the result is almost 4.000 m ?! (see attached pgx file). All the internal altitude values are correct on the diagram but not the total value in the stats.

Hi, looking at the elevation profile of the track I can see quite a lot improbable deviations in the elevation measuring:

Locus Map takes all GPS location and altitude measurement from the mobile device. As most of GPS units in mobiles are not of professional-use quality, such deviations are quite common. Also, local terrain and weather conditions must be taken as GPS data quality influencing aspect. That's why there are several options in Locus, how to optimize elevation values - optimization by pressure sensor, by SRTM data, by automatic geoid offset or NMEA offset. See http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:altitude.
