Yes, that would be great. But afaik the groundspeak fieldnotes do not support that either.

photo

You have no idea how USEFUL that would be! Wait, maybe you have, actually. I support that idea a thousand times.

if you will start to think about this idea, consider this page for sure: http://www.geokrety.org/

Travelbugs (geocaching.com) and Geokreties (geokrety.org)? Would be great!

very useful function!

it would be really useful!!

Good Idea! Just look at - sorry for mentioning another geocaching software - c:geo : this works great.

photo

want it to,

Works great in c:Geo, but when this is integrated i doont need c:geo at all anymore.

Hello guys,

second most wanted idea right? I have just published new Locus version and one my big task is done. So now it`s right time to do something also for a community ....

So, let`s do something with this ... anyway I need some help here

In which way you want to handle with trackables?

In first step, just tap on trackable in list and display all possible information? Then in this screen ability to log it (possibilities: retrieved, grabbed, write note, discovered, ?)

anything else?

let me know. I`m not the real geocacher, so I appreciate some advices from you

photo
0

Yes, thats right, but please remember to simultaneously make a support for geokrety.org. And it would be nice to log trackables/krets from the certain cache`s menu. So: getting into a geocache point, and then choosing some position from a menu, to log that te trackable has been put to this cache.

photo
0

fine, logging of trackables is done. I had only one not-yet-logged trackable from vacation, so tested and seems to works correctly. If anyone will have some free time, test will be welcome. I`ll publish some test version during a today

about geokrety. I don`t know this service, but as I looks, seems similar to trackables. Is here many users who use it or just elmuSSo? :)

photo
0

Me too. :-)

Thanks!

Regards

Geofan

photo

Not only elmuSSo:), geokrety are tight connected to opencaching servers (especially in Poland) and have a lot of users.

photo
0

anyone for testing? https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8015949/Locu... - currently only groundspeak trackables are supported

About GeoKrety ... oki, I agree with adding this also into Locus, but I need some help here. May someone send me some GPX file with caches that contain some of these trackables? Best should be if someone have any GeoKrety out, so I may test it directly on it

photo
0

HEY! Remember to have also:

"Dropped" log type, when the coin in the possession of the user and s/he leaves it in a cache.

"Visited" log type! That is for the situation when trackable owner "dips" his/her coin/bug in a cache.

But for this you have to get the trackable list of the geocacher, not the geocache.

photo
0

I wrote a comment few mails up. See that.

photo
0

Yes I will send you an example gpx file but I thing something is done now. When cache has geokret logged, the trackables tab shows with trackables list.

photo
0

thanks:)

photo
0

thanks elmuSSo and also Darius (for email with GPX file). I started to work on it, but seems that GeoKrety site have very poor API documentation. So I already contacted them by email and waiting for reply.

Because I wanted to release one more version in the end of the week, expect that GeoKrety will be probably supported in one of next version.

photo

for GeoKrety fans ... I just received information from GeoKrety owner. I needed some features from him to be available. His response was

great,

I will make it a priotity.

so, we work on GeoKrety and I`ll add support for this also - so work in progress ;)

Nice:)

Hi guys,

hope that good news for fan of geocaching trackables. Here is version with almost completely rewrote screen for logging a caches and also with FULL support for trackables. So if any volunteers are ready to test, some feedback will be welcome. Mainly if new screen is clear and simple for you ... thanks

Seems to be very close. Just tried with my own car-travelbug. A "write note" log was done in that tb on gc.com. Will now try a trackable which is not my own. Usually i will log as discovered or retrieve. Lets have a try.

photo

Hi Menion,

I have been playing with this version a little, and I like what you have done for the trackables. I have not been able to test it thoroughly, because I have nothing to log at this moment, but the UI was clear to me.

On the other hand, I was less enthusiastic about the rewritten cache screen. Does it need to take so much space? Couldn`t you put the logging options in a combo box in place of the timezone? Do we need a timezone all the time? I never use it. Move the description of each logging option to a hint to make it smaller.

photo
0

Hi Menion, just performed the test with a TB in my own cache. Well done. That is what geocachers really need. Can i place a trackable which have retrievedbefore in a cache by logging with Locus? Have not found that yet. What would be very cool is to mark some trackables from my geocaching list that always will visit the cache. That is good for the Car-Travelbug maybe. But anyway great job. Thanks a lot.

If handling with trackables works soon, there is no more need to use the official geocaching app for the hunt. This feature is the only one i was missing.

photo
0

Hello Menion,

sorry, where is the differents of the "FULL support for trackables" to the version of last weekend? My hope was, to find the option to log an trackable without an cache (for example just to discover any trackable), but I was not able to.

Can you tell us, the improvement (the new log screen of caches I found :-))?

photo
0

In germany geokrety is less than 1% of all trackables. More then 99% percent are Travelbugs and Geocoins. Both listed on gc.com.

photo
0

Yeah. Thats the thing. Fragmentation. Im in UK now, and the geokrets didn`t exist here, so I need to introduce them to this geocaching world:)

photo
0

But in Poland... in Opencaching caches you will find only geokrets.

photo
0

hmm so as I expected, not everything is so clear :)

by FULL i mean, that should be covered all trackables need

you may:

1. log whatever trackable you find in cache by tap on top left menu button in cache screen and choose "log trackable"

2. log trackable visible in cache`s inventory, directly by tapping on trackable in list of items in cache tab

3. you may log your own trackables by tapping on "log" button (the way you normally log your caches), selecting "log your visit" (so normal online logging) and at bottom will be new part "Inventory" where you can load and display and finally log trackables you own

photo
0

Hi Menion,

with your help found now, how to look in my inventory. Tested that one too and works also fine. Well done. Great job. Thanks a lot.

photo
0

Menion,

How do you access this inventory? I don`t see it at the moment, although I have 1 TB in my possession.

photo
0

I had problems to find the inventory, too.

But finally figured it out:

You have to select "log your visit" (not "Upload.." or "Store..."), then the inventory is displayed.

photo
0

I still don`t get it. Do I have to click "OK" to see my inventory?

When I select "log your visit", nothing changes in the cache screen.

Locus Free V2.7.2.2

photo

You don`t have click ok, yet. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page.

You have to be logged in to GC Live, but I think you knew that :)

photo
0

I`m logged in. Are you a premium member? I`m not.

photo
0

Basic member.

Are you sure you are running the test version that Menion announced 18 hours ago in this thread? (2.7.2.2)

photo
0

Yes.

On startup:

"Testing free (working as Pro) version. Version 2.7.2.2"

I don`t understand it. Menion, any idea?

photo
0

How are your geocaches imported?

I use the AddOn "Geocaching4Locus".

Maybe this is the difference?

photo
0

wait till tomorrow guys. It`s clear that current system is not best, so I`m just creating new version. This will anyway take some time, so tomorrow will be for sure ready new version

photo
0

Hi Menion!

Would you consider to have the list of possessed travel bugs visible in any case (online/store/field note).

But only when doing online logging it will be possible to select an action for the bug.

And move time zone settings to the bottom, then the "bug list" might be visible without scrolling.

photo

hi guys,

second round ;)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8015949/Locu...

photo

That`s a lot better!

Thanks!

photo
0

Its very good. Wish to have the trackavles in my possession ordered by name and not by TB-Code.

When a kog is done would be great to see the name of the trackable and not only the TB-code.

Nice-to-have: If there is a trackable in a cache i own i would like to mark it as missing. This is when a trackable is not in the cache for a longer time and i will recognize that on a mainteinance.

I will figure out the german translation. Should be the same as on gc.com.

LeoLox> I will figure out the german translation. Should be the same as on gc.com.

For this you can visit http://forum.locusmap.eu/viewtopic.ph... plz...

photo

The function inside the inventory is running perfect, but the option "Protokolliere Trackable" leads to an "unkown error". Can I send you any log?

photo
0

If this is an unknown issue, you can send a log - of course.

please read -> http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

photo
0

LeoLox ... I`ll check it. Everybody agree that sorting inventory (you own and in cache) by TB name is best?

schnuffels: you mean logging trackable by tracking code directly in cache page (top menu)? May you describe me step by step what you do? Log is always welcome, I`m just not perfectly sure, if it helps here, but you may try it!

edit: and also, no problems with understanding how system works? You really have to be hard on me :)

photo
0

Hi Menion, I double checked and... sorry it was my fault :-(

Everything is working fine, now I can uninstall c:geo :-)

Thanks a lot!

photo
0

Writing a note on a trackable should be without entering the tracking code. A note could be: Was not in the cache for example.

photo
0

I like it, but just one remark:

Could you also show the image of the trackable in the inventory?

photo
0

what you mean by image? You mean just a small icon (symbol)?

photo
0

Each Geocoin has its own icon. Travelbugs dont have unique icons, but only the travelbug-icon. If you see the name only, you dont know, if it is a travelbug or geocoin. With the icon you can see that.

photo
0

hmm but in the list of items in cache (tab inventory), these images are loading so you may see correct icon next to every item. And in other cases (when you log item by trackable code and if you have it in your own inventory), you know what item is it, or not?

photo
0

Yes, Menion, you are right. I have 28 trackables in my inventory. All my own and if i see the name, i know, what is a travelbug and what is a coin. Might be nice, to see on the symbol, what is a tb and which one is a coin, especially, if a take coins and travelbugs which are in its journey into my inventory.

photo
0

I think it`s also more beautiful when seeing the symbol. Give the eye some candy!

photo
0

fine, so perfect version? :)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8015949/Locu...

photo
0

Its becoming harder and harder to find something to criticize. :-)

Thank you very much!

photo
0

This point is well done. Thanks.

photo
0

One point i`m not shure if it will be quite nice: If i retrieve a trackable from a cache, then this trackable can be removed from the trackable-list of that cache without updating the cache.

photo
0

Logging a trackable in the own cache as missing would be a feature, no other geocaching-app has this time. Even the groundspeak-app does not support this. While one the homepage this is no problem.

Menion, is that a challenge?

photo
0

Hi Menion, how is the GeoKrety support progress?

photo
0

still waiting for authors response and addition on their web site

photo
0

thx for info. give me a shout if something will change.

photo
0

I`ll for sure. Because I don`t use it, I`ll need a lot of testing from you, so I`ll continue in this topic ...

photo

Thank you:)

Menion,

Today I found a trackable in a geocache that was not in the inventory of this cache. (The previous owner didn`t log it yet). No problem I thought, just go to the geocache and in the top right menu select "Log Trackable".

When I did this, Locus showed me an input screen, where I had to put the tracking code. After doing this and clicking "OK", nothing happened?!?

I should be able to discover or grab it.
