To control the track recording via a remote device e.g. a Bluetooth headset

I have an idea of controlling the track recording via some Bluetooth or wired device e.g. a headset. If there is a unified "simple button device" even better. The reason is simple: I regularly use Locus to log parts of my off-road bike trips, flying activities and similar higher risk activities where I cannot concentrate to look to the handheld or even put my hands off the steering while I do not want to log the entire trip. If a user could pause and restart the recording remotely it would be a great tool to spread the Locus usage options. Do you think it is a realistic wish? What have to be done to implement such function? I am even capable of sponsoring such function (but hey, I am not a millionaire :-))

Menion: if you are interested, I can write to you a PM in Czech too.

Hi,

definitively not a speech controlled, it would be impossible to use it at noisy off-road environments. I am thinking of using a button on some universal device like a play/pause on a headset is.

k understand now. hm with gloves i cant press my headsetbutton.

Gynta: That is exactly my wish too, to control it with gloves. BTW: with gloves you cannot control the handheld too (capacity touch screen). I was thinking of adapting the standard Bluetooth headset: remove its play/pause button and wire its contacts to the large industrial button which I would place to my handlebar or anywhere else where it is easy to reach even with gloves etc. The general idea is to get the Locus to work with Bluetooth devices using some universal protocol - like you can control the start/stop function of media player - and then it is up to the user to do the rest according their needs...

Why don`t you get gloves that can control touch screens? ;)

Another possibilty would be the integration with Locus API.

Last option to think about are some game controllers. Don`t laugh :D

For example, you could try the WiiMote or the Zeemote .

Hope I could give you some inspiration...

Tasker integration is what I`d like to see. That would be great!

Is anyone willing to try control over intents?

I just added to Locus API ability to control track recording. Here http://code.google.com/p/android-locu... on line 111, are four Broadcast Intents. Parameters that allow to control track recording in Locus. I`m not familiar with tasker, but these parameters works over Locus API and if tasker is able to send broadcast intents, it should work also.

For testing, you`ll need this testing version

Let me know, I`m quite curious :)

Menion,

I am regular consumer and do know nothing about Locus API and Tasker etc, I just daily use Locus. But I still seek for that function so I will try to dig deeper into the problem and luckily let you know about my progres soon.

Thanks a lot

I have just tested it with tasker and so complete but confusing program, I never saw before. Anyway works :)
