"Screen on/off control" doesn't turn the screen off

Wolfgang shared this problem 5 years ago
Solved

Hi Menion,

until 3.35.2 I used "Always screen on" to leave the display on in Locus Pro and for navigation I activated "Screen on/off control". With this setting the screen switched on for all notifications (point, track, navigation) and turned off after 15 seconds. This worked fine for me to save battery.

Now in 3.36.2 the screen switches on for the notifications - but it doesn't switch off after 15 sec!

My interpretation (until 3.35.2) was: "Screen on/off control" had a higher priority and overrides the setting "Always screen on". And I was happy with this behaviour.

Now "Screen on/off control" seems to work only when I deactivate "Always screen on" :-(

Please change it to the old behaviour.

best regards

Wolfgang

Good day Wolfgang,

definitely nothing has changed regards this functionality. Double check please your settings, mainly if you still have 15 sec time interval for "Auto screen turn-off" option, thanks.

Hello Menion,

today I tested this functionality again for a longer time. "Always screen on" is activated all the time - when I use Locus, I don't want the screen to be turned off by a screen saver. I used "Navigation" and therefore I activated "Screen on/off control". With this setting Locus Pro should turn the display on for all notifications (point, track, navigation) and turn it off after 15 seconds. In all tests the display was turned on for a navigation notification - but not turned off.

This was the behavior of my "primary" Smartphone: Samsung S7 with all updates (Android 8.0.0, security patch 01.01.2019) and Locus Pro 3.36.2. Same result with BETA 3.36.2.8

I also use a "secondary" Smartphone: Samsung A5 (2017) with all updates (Android 8.0.0, security patch 01.01.2019) and Locus Pro 3.35.2. With this A5 Locus Pro turning the display off works as I expected - and as I know it from my S7 with 3.35.2.

I really think 3.36.2 doesn't work like 3.35.2. I'd suggest to doublecheck this with a "downdate" of my S7 from 3.36.2 back to 3.35.2 - if possible.

best regards

Hi Menion,

with an additional test I'm sure: It's an issue in 3.36.2

I could arrange to "downdate" my S7 to 3.35.2 with backup 3.35.2 on my A5 + reinstall on S7.

Now with 3.35.2 on my S7 "Screen on/off control" works as expected and as before. And as Iike it :-)

Please have a look on 3.36.2 - if you'll find and fix something I can test it in the BETA.

best regards

Wolfgang

Hi Menion,

just to make my usage until 3.35.2 clear: I have always activated "Always screen on" and "Screen on/off control" (with Auto screen turn off 15 sec) - with this setting the screen always remains on when I use Locus (without navigation) and when navigating (with limited power supply on the bike) the screen turns on for navigaton notifications and turns off 15 sec later.

For the usage of Locus on the motorbike or in the car (both with sufficient power supply) I use different presets.

best regards

Wolfgang

Good day Wolfgang,

I think I have found one problem. If you test Beta versions, give a try to next version. Otherwise, next public version will be somewhere in the middle of March. Thanks for now and let me know if the next version will work as expected.

Hi Menion,

many thanks for looking for this issue! I'll check the issue in the next Beta and give you feedback.

For the moment I'm happy with the 3.35.2 and avoid updating to 3.36.2 - I have no problem waiting for the next public version.

best regards

Hi Menion,

I checked the solution with 3.36.2.9 BETA - it works as in 3.35.2. Perfect - thank you!

Uff perfect.

Such huge number of small issues with 3.36.2, hmm. Sorry for that and thanks for the help with this!
