Track rally participants

I attend many rallies and the organizers send a file to live tracking and works on Google Earth. Is there any way we can track it on locus Map?

It is international Rally organised by FIA and would like to track all the participants. They send kmz file to track them on Google Earth. It would be nice if we could trace them on locus Map. They send this file and only show the progress of the rally on the day of the event. They use satellite communication I think.

Hello Alzadjali,

the use case you are mentioning should be normally supported by Locus Map. You can either import KMZ/KML file through Menu > More functions > Import.

Or better yet, copy the KMZ/KML file to the application folder /Locus/mapItems in your phone's storage and you can then switch the KMZ on/off at any time through Menu > More functions > Map Items.

We have coincidentally just discovered a bug in the recent versions of Locus Map and the given example might interfere severly with map rendering, but it should be working in the next version.

Best regards

Hello,

Can you please remove the file I uploaded on your site.  It belongs to the rally organiser.

Thank you

Hello,

When I track the rally, look at both apps Google Earth and locus Map screen shot.  Locus does not give the car number and the icon is large rectangle.

Hello,

do you by any chance have a KML so that I could reproduce the behaviour?

Thank you

Thanks Alzadjali,

in your file, I found reason why numbers are displayed "weirdly".

I'll try to fix to next version so it will work correctly for next race. Thanks for sharing a file, it helped.

Hello,

ah sorry. I'm analyzing why Locus does not handle these icons correctly and I've found that few years ago, this system was not in KML documentation. Anyway, I'm checking it now and seems that support for the substracting icon from the huge image is still not in official docs.

Unfortunately, such improvement is quite a lot of additional work and because of the really rare usage of this system, I have to say that it won't be fixed/improved.

Thanks for understanding.
