Vector maps in off-line mode

Hi...

I bought "LocusPro" + "addon Vector maps" for Navigation and for Travelling in other countries (Holidays) in OFF-LINE Mode.

Now I have some Questions.

1.) My next holiday is in some weeks and I will go to Thailand. I have downloaded the vector maps but I can not read the text in the map because the language is in Thai. I need to change the language complete to English or switching the language between Thai and English. -> Example: on zoom 100km the big city`s are all in Thai even Bangkok.

2.) How can I search for cities in off-line mode and is there a possibility for auto-identification the names I type in?

3.) Is there a possibility to see the whole map of the earth in the first & second zoom level, because it is easier to find the country.

4.) If I zoom to Thailand, the coastline (water to land) is not showing correct. Please fix.

I hope you can give me a quick help, because my holiday will start in some weeks.

My Handy is an Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Thanks

the Matze

I guess this is something Menion won`t fix himself.

However, I expect this as a feature in the next version of the underlying mapsforge library.

Please check http://code.google.com/p/mapsforge/wi...

In particular have a look at http://code.google.com/p/mapsforge/is...

I fear this is also a not yet supported feature of mapsforge

I appreciate that Locus provides such a map but due to efficient information storage of vector maps I hope this is possible to quite a number of the lower zoom levels.

You should add this as a new item in the section "Ideas".

Again I think this is a problem of mapsforge rather than Locus

Thanks Tommy,

perfect answer, there`s nothing more I can say. I personally hope, that main part of these issues will be fixed with new version of MapsForge library (probably at start of March)

Ref 3): When starting with Locus and travelling around several countries I experienced the same need for having a "world map" to faster locate regions and then change to local maps there (having downloaded locally in advance). Therefore I have created a bitmap world map up to level 7 via MOBAC, locate and zoom into "my" required region there - and then switch to the local vector map again.

Re #3) adding to Uwe: I did the same up to level 10, which gave a 1.3 GB map.

Well, level 6-10 did exclude the arctic regions S&N and level 10 is without the oceans.
