Locus Abo and Brouter

I have found this news https://www.locusmap.eu/en/locus-map-lets-talk-future/. Locus wants to be paid as an abo and praise the better integration of Brouter in the new version.

My opinion, if Locus would not have Brouter, it would be an very uninteresting app to many people. The integration of Brouter is the big advantage of Locus. So I think it would be fair, if the developer of Brouter get a part of the money which Locus earns.

I know that it is not my business, but I am interested in whether the locus team are fair developers or not. So will get the developer of Brouter money from Locus?

I think Locus will not develop any new navigation. You will integrate BRouter directly into Locus. This works only if BRouter agrees. I think the 2 will negotiate fair.

Good day Stephan,

as I see in the blog post, Michal mentioned directly BRouter. My main idea is to better integrate ANY offline navigation system, not exactly BRouter. GraphHopper is in play as well. We did not yet discussed this with Arndt (developer of BRouter) and not even with Peter Karich (one of guys behind GraphHopper) anyway I'm in personal contact with both of them.

I may really guarantee that we try to be fair in all areas, not just to the users :). So we will really gladly share revenue with BRouter or GraphHopper systems to support its future development, there is no need to worry about it.

If there will be any question, feel free to ask me.

Will Locus be one of many other apps with offline navigation capabilities?

From my point of view, the unique features of Locus aren't offline navigation. TomTom, Sygis and some others are doing it way better. Having it as addition to the standard would be nice but not as main eye catcher.

We hope it will be. It is important to keep in mind, that main purpose of Locus Map isn't typical car navigation like you wrote: TomTom and others, but a Hike & Bike usage. So when offline navigation, then definitely again focused on hike & bike.
