Unable to log into store via e-mail under Lineage OS 16.0

Bernd Kalbfuß shared this problem 4 years ago
Solved

I am running Lineage OS 16.0 (tissot) with MicroG on a Xiaomi Mi A1. Intentionally no Google apps installed. So far no issues.

Via the Amazon app store I have purchased and installed Locus Map Pro (v3.37.2). Works like a charm with one exception:

I am unable to log into the Locus Map store via e-mail. When I select the e-mail option I am prompted for my e-mail adress. Afterwards the application keeps loading for ever.

Anything I can do to make it work/help debugging the problem?

Good day Bernd,

thanks for contacting us also thanks you mentioned usage of MicroG framework. To be true, we have really negative feedback regards this framework and you are not the first one who write to us about problems with login.

What we may try is to enable "expert settings" by this method. Then in settings > expert settings, find the option "Allow login over Play services and display it". After the restart of Locus, try to log in over email (should be the only option now) again. It should work then. Let me know.

Thanks, Menion. That indeed solved the problem. I have been able to login via e-mail, buy coins from the amazon store and offline maps with those in the following.

Hello Bernd,

hmm so it looks, we should detect if the device has MicroG framework and in this case, disable this "Allow login over Play services and display it" automatically.

Thanks for the feedback and hope you will be satisfied with Locus Map app.

I am totally satisfied with Locus Map app. One of the greatest apps I have ever worked with. Please continue with the good work!

Would be nice to detect microG automatically. It may be rare, but to may knowledge it currently is the only solution to use Google Cloud Messaging upon which many apps depend without having Google permanently spy on you.

Understand. I'm trying to find something information about this, but seems that MicroG does very good work and hide very well difference between original Google Play services and this framework :). We will at least add some information to our help desk. Thanks.
