Finnish nautical maps and charts

Hi,

thank you for an idea. I quickly tested WMTS service but I'm not sure what layer we should use. Do you know if there is any WMTS layer that cover whole Finland?

Sorry for the delay in answering!!

A bit of digging revealed following:

The resolution of these WMTS-layers seems to be quite poor. I imagine that navigating tight spots with these maps would be quite challenging, but I think they do provide an adequate overall view.

In the near future there might also be issues with the availability of the WMTS-interface due some governmental re-structuring (upkeeping of nautical maps is transferred from Väylä-office to Traficom-office). At the minimum interface addresses will change.

Anyway, layer "liikennevirasto:Merikarttasarjat public" covers whole country including sea shores and inland waterways. Preferred CRS would be EPSG:3067.

Unfortunately there's only a note saying that interfaces are provided by Väylä during a transfer period. No dates, nothing on the length of the transfer period. Sorry!
