GPS Fix doesn't work after last Update

Matthias Gerland shared this problem 6 years ago
Not a Problem

Hello,

after the last update the Gps fix doesn't work anymore. You can see the green symbol, but there are no satellites. After some minutes there is a short fix, but disapeare at once. So no routing or exact positioning is possible.

I have a Samsung Tab S3 with the last Android version.

Hi Matthias,

Locus Map receives GPS data from your device, i.e. it doesn't influence if the GPS is on or off - it is managed by your phone system.

- please check if Locus Map is excluded from your device battery optimization (more info at https://dontkillmyapp.com/samsung)

- check if Locus Map has ALL necessary location permissions

- if the first two points are checked and with no effect, go to Locus settings > GPS&sensors > Google Services assisted location > turn it ON

best regards

thanks for your answer.

I did the first two points, but i can't turn on google assist. I have no simcard installed.

But i turned off Gps Auto off. There was 60 second delay to refresh gps. And this 60 second i can see in the app. So i turned it off and i have always my position. But why it changed with the update? Or did i never saw it? Ok, may be it is a fault or a feature. I will wait for the next update.

Thanks

Hi Matthias,

"GPS auto-off" feature is used when extreme battery saving is required, e.g. during a multi-day hiking in wilderness without possibility to recharge the phone. The track record is a bit vague then, depending on the settings. But for a normal use in a civilized area it is recommended to have this feature OFF.

best regards
