problems with phone memory or sd card memory

Looking for some help, I use Locus pro especially for location scouting, and so my locations are very precious and years of work. But my phone's (samsung galaxy 7) internal storage keeps on running full on many Locus maps and precious location points with data (photos, comments, files, ...), even though storage was appointed to /sdcard. It stayed storing all this info on the phone's memory. Today I found in the topics the way to move my 'Locus' folder from the internal storage to the sd card, what seemed to be working and freed up 8GB of storage. But when opening the LocusPro app i got following screenshots enclosed. I now see a map of the world and all my downloaded offline maps and points with data are not there...Who can help making my sdcard storage work. And a second question with that, how can I make a safe backup from the maps with these points and their data?

The sd card is not read only, it's also the storage location for all my camera photos.

Hi Sebastian,

your Locus Map main directory, including all subdirectories, is obviously set to be in your internal memory (/sdcard/). You wrote that you transferred your real Locus data on your external SD card, right? As Locus pops up an error message, it seems the data are not stored in the proper directory. Please, try following steps:

- go to your phone file manager/external SD card and transfer the Locus directory from the place it is now on to the folder /Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files.

- go to Locus Map settings > Miscellaneous > Default directories and change the main Locus Map directory to /storage/3462-3262/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files

- restart Locus Map

In this settings, you have all working data of Locus on your external SD card. BUT keep in mind, when you uninstall Locus Map, all your data will be deleted without notice. So we strongly recommend to make automatic mackups of your settings, points, tracks and maps to a cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive)

Hi Sebastian,

I understand your confusion... The official Android term /sdcard/, used in Locus, paradoxically, is a name of the internal memory, NOT the real external SD card. Your SD card name in the file manager is 3462-3262. This state begun some time in Android 4.4.2 when Google decided to limit SD card usage.

So, there are probably some mistakes in your settings of default directories. Could you please post a screenshot of Locus settings > Miscellaneous > Default directories?

Hi Michal,

thanks for replying so fast on my message. Enclosed a screenshot of that page requested. To be clear my Locus folder is now set on my SD card. And the Locus App is obviously not finding it anymore.

Regards

Sebastian

Thanks a lot for your help Michal!!! I found all my points again and have a free memory on my phone, that's great.

I tried to backup on a folder created on my Google Drive, the app says successful but I don't see any backup file in my Google drive, also the automatic backup i created there does not do anything, even when the indicated 'next backup' time is passed...

Hi Sebastian,

please, verify Locus Map has permission to access your Google Drive. Go to Locus menu > (more functions) > Import and open the Google Drive tab in the file browser. Is it active? If not, then log in Google Drive and assign Locus the permission. If yes, go to the topbar menu of the file manager and select "logout", then log in to Google Drive again.

Hi Sebastian,

please, check again if the path to the folder on your GDrive is valid and also check if the folder on your GDrive really exists. If not, the backups fall to the spam folder.
