Are LoMaps free with LocusMap Pro ?

Hi,

there are the same limits and prices for maps in Locus Free and Locus PRO. So you can download 3 free LoMaps in the Locus Free or in the Locus PRO. There is no difference.

Thanks, Petr

Thanks. So, assuming free maps in the Pro  version was a misunderstanding.

You get some premium features, no ads with Locus PRO but the price of LoMaps or other maps is the same.

Thanks, Petr

Thanks.

Another question: can I have maps for OsmAnd and LocusMap on the device and store them only once ?

I think, the OsmAnd storage location is fixed - could I just enter that folder for the Locaus map storage ?

Are all Locus resources stored in one place - or can maps be separate ?

Thanks in advance

Dear Jochen,

I'm sot sure what you want to achieve but you can't use OsmAnd maps in Locus.

Thanks, Petr

Hi Petr,

sorry - I had assumed that the OSM maps used by OsmAnd are also interpretable by your app.

If not, then the question is of course irrelevant.

Thanks

Hi Jochen,

Unfortunately not, OsmAnd uses the different format. OSM are basically only raw data and there are several possibilities how to create 'map' from these data.

Thanks for all your answers.

Two final (hopefully) questions:

How would I move map data from internal storage to an external SD card (or back) ?

Is there another way to buy maps than via Locus points ?

Thanks

Hi Jochen,

answer for first question you can find here, especially here.

As far as I know you should name the root folder on the external sd card not "/Locus/". This may cause troubles running Locus. In my case I am using "/extLocus/" as the root folder name on external sd card.

Hi Petr,

I have another question:

I installed the BRouter for offline navigation.

Do I need to download resources (map data) for that to work,

or will it - if used from Locus Map - use the map data from Locus Map ?

Thanks

Hi Jochen,

it's needed to download BRouter navigation data. Locus LoMaps offline maps do not contain navigation data. For more info please see https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_navigate_offline

Thanks, Petr

Hi Petr,

I very much enjoyed using LocusMaps including BRouter in some USA national parks.

However, I did not succeed to record GPS tracks. I selected the Walking profile

that should record every 1m / 10sec, but I only got one start and one end point

(plus one additional manual point in one case where I did testwise add one manually).

What do I need to change / set in order to really record a track ?

Thanks a lot !

Hi Jochen,

great thank you for the info.

Regarding track recording: I'm sorry for this question but I have to ask for it. Are you sure that GPS was turned on during recording?

Please check also if feature 'GPS auto off' is disabled. More info about it https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:settings:gps#gps_auto-off

Thank you

Hi Petr,

thanks for the hints.

Looking under Settings > GPS & Sensors, I find 3 items about de-activation:

Disable when app is hidden

Disables GPS when the screen is turned off or the app is minimized and GPS location is not required by any other function

GPS ON for track recording

Keeps GPS on during the track recording even if the recording is paused.

GPS ON for guidance

Keeps GPS on during guidance even if the app is minimized and screen is off.

Currently, the first and last are "ON": and the middle one is "OFF".

Is this "GPS ON for track recording" the item you mean ???

Or what do I have to set in GPS Auto-off ???

Currently, this item is "OFF".

Best regards

    Jochen

PS:    GPS itself was on (otherwise I would have 0 instead of 2 points).

Hi Petr,

can you give me a short HowTo to get the tracking up and running (did not experiment with it yet) ?

Is the critical point the option "GPS ON for track recording" or rather something in the option block

"GPS Auto-off" which is by default still completely turned off in my device ?

Or do I need some combinations ? I want to save as much battery power as reasonably possible.

Thanks

Hello,

I'm very sorry for the late response. We found out that we had some troubles on our help desk system and several posts weren't properly processed. Are you still facing this issue, please?

Thank you for understanding

Best regards

Hi Petr,

reading the GPS info page again, it seems that is the only thing I need actiavted (and is was actiavted):

Disable location Disable when app is hidden

Disables GPS when the screen is turned off or the app is minimized and GPS location is not required by any other function

In addition, the

Advanced settings GPS auto-off

should be turned off, right ? (it was off)

But the track recording did yield only start + end point.

So, what is wrong ?

Sorry & thanks

    Jochen

Since I did not want to create a duplicate topic; I would like post my question here:

I was using the LM free version and recently upgraded to Pro version. When I tried to download my 3 free LoMaps (as advertised in the Google Store?), I was surprised to see my quota of 3 maps was already consumed during my use of the LM free version.

I don't see the logic behind this; since if I had created a new user and made a fresh purchase and install then I would be able to use latest maps. If this is really your intention, then I have to admit that I'm a little bit dissatisfied.

Thanks anyway, for the great work.
