Upper toolbar again limited to 5 buttons?

Holger shared this problem 4 years ago
Solved

Hello Menion,

I use locus with landscape format.

Since the last update, there are only 5 buttons in the top toolbar. In landscape format.

Before I always had 10 buttons. Is that limited again?

And can you remove the limit? Or can I do it myself.

see screenshot before and after update

Thank you very muchGreetings, Holger

Hello Holger,

indeed, there was a change in the setup of a maximal number of top items.

Previously in your case, the max number of items was set to 10? Interestingly, it should be to 5 on phones.

Anyway, it was a problematic solution in the case of the screen rotate. The current system compute a maximal number of items automatically based on width or height (smaller value) of the device. So no matter if you use the app in landscape or portrait, there will always be enough space.

There should be a solution to the separate setup of function panels for landscape and portrait, but most of the users use the app in portrait mode only, so I do not believe it is not a huge problem.

Agree, it should be nice to improve somehow ...

Hello Menion,

Thanks for the answer.

>>>Previously in your case, the max number of items was set to 10?<<<

Yes. (screenshot 1/2)

>>>The current system compute a maximal number of items automatically<<<

This does not work for me (Samsung Note9/Android 9)

I can only add 5 items to the top bar, no more. (Screenshot 5)

Also only 5 are displayed no matter how rotated.(Screenshot 3 / 4)

Can you make a switch for automatic/manual?

In manual mode then free number of items?

Or repair the automatic mode?

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Holger

Hello Holger,

sorry, but there is nothing to fix. I'm trying older version 3.41 and even there on big phone, the number of items is limited to 5. Isn't possible that you imported backup from some tablet, where you were able to insert 10 items to the top toolbar?

Currently, I do not know how to solve this so sorry, I have no solution for now.

In case I create some mode that allows in the same setup set 10 items to top toolbar in landscape mode, at the moment you rotate a device, half of the buttons will be lost because of lack of space, so this is not a logical solution.

Hello Menion,

>>>Isn't possible that you imported backup from some tablet, where you were able to insert 10 items to the top toolbar?<<<

No, I reinstalled everything on the Note 9. I had to buy it because Locus didn't want to use Android 4.4. anymore.

>>>I do not know how to solve this so sorry, I have no solution for now.<<<

A switch, automatic <-> manual.

- In the automatic mode "system compute a maximal number of items automatically based on width or height (smaller value) of the device".

- In the manual mode everybody can adjust how many items he wants to use above

Can't you do that?

>>>at the moment you rotate a device, half of the buttons will be lost because of lack of space<<<

that's what happens to me now when I turn from portrait to landscape (screenshot 3 / 4)

But if I use only landscape, that's no problem.

too much automatic is not good, rather let the user set everything himself ;-)

Hello Holder,

in the next Locus Map version will be a new option to enable "Automatic mode". This will remove limit on a number of items and automatically fill the whole top toolbar before placing the remaining functions to the side panel. Believe it will solve the problem we discuss here.
