Zooming overlay separately from the main map

Imagine we have some raster main map with zoom 7-15 and overlay with zoom 7-18.

When we zoom to level 16, main map will interpolate to 200%. That`s OK. But as I see - overlay will also interpolate to 200% although it has zoom levels 16,17,18. (If I use vector map as main map - then I see much more overlay zoom levels.) This issue will be very important when Locus will use Wikimapia overlays - there are more visible signatures on higher zoom levels.

Wouldn`t it be very difficult to implement separate zooming for main map and overlay?

In the above example we zoom in:

main: zoom14-100%, overlay: zoom14-100%

main: zoom15-100%, overlay: zoom15-100%

main: zoom15-200%, overlay: zoom16-100%

main: zoom15-400%, overlay: zoom17-100%

something like that.

Vitalii, I also spotted that issue some time ago. I`m happy not only me can see that problem. I fully agree with you and I support this idea. I also think this should be put into Problem section, because it is a bug in my opinion.

Your vision is very close to my. I have voted for both ideas.

I absolutely agree that this feature is needed ...

Unfortunately system in Locus do not allow this, as there is just one object that handle zoom scales based on base map

Anyway because I absolutely agree with this, I started to work on it. Result after around 10 hours of work, is probably working solution like this? :)

Unfortunately I had to rewrite most of system that handle zoom, so I`m now quite a worry about functionality. So time to start testing ...

Feature will be working in next release, uff
