Geocaching regression with Locus Pro 2.15.0

Juha Sahakangas shared this problem 10 years ago
Solved

I`ve been using Locus with the Geocaching addon for a while.

I do not have gc.com premium membership so the addon can`t download full cache details. Previously this has not been a huge problem, since most of the functionality has worked and if I`ve needed to read the full description, "cache menu/web page" menu item has offered an easy way of viewing a specific cache in c:geo.

As of 2.15.0 update, however, Locus no longer opens the waypoint dialog when clicking on such less-detailed cache icon, rendering it impossible to use guide/compass, check d/t ratings or log the cache and the aforementioned web page menu.

I`ve confirmed that this is unrelated to the gc addon version or any geocaching.com changes, downgrading Locus to 2.14.1 makes everything work again.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is a bug in last version. It’ll be fixed in next release.

Thank you for understanding

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem is not that the details button is missing, rather the POI dialog or "waypoint screen" shown in the first screenshot on that page is not opened at all. When touching a cache icon on the map, the only thing that happens is that it shows the name for a while.

Anyway, I used the "give me all" -option, and double-checked - all modules are marked active, tried disabling and enabling geocaching as well, no difference, same behavior regardless of the status of the geocaching module.

Hello Juha, as Petr above wrote, it`s a problem in current version of Locus. I`m quite sorry for that. Problem is already fixed and will work as expected in next version of Locus. Unfortunately there is no workaround now.

Anyway today or tomorrow, here http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?to... appear new testing version, so you may check if it works as expected

@Arcao: nice manual. As you may see, "Modules" in locus cause more troubles then benefits, so they`ll be completely removed in next version!

Menion & Petr: Understood. It`s no big deal, none of the new features in 2.15 are critical for me so no workaround needed, I can just use an older version for a while. Just wanted to mention it here in case it`s gone unnoticed.

Thanks for the quick fix.
