beep tones all the time

Hi,

Yet again (I had solved the problem for a few weeks - twice) I cannot use Locus Map as it beeps all the time. Sometimes only when the screen is off, but sometimes even when it's on. I have turned everything off that I can find. No difference. Only happens with Locus Map.

Beep tones are mostly heard when guiding to a point or along a track. (and coming close to that point or straying too far of that track). So check that first.

It's a constant beep, every 10 (?) seconds. I am not following a track. Mostly just when the screen goes off. Today I adjusted the mobile screen to stay permanently on - no beeps. But as soon as I manually turn the screen off, the beeps start.

Ah. Maybe your GPS switches off when screen goes off. Under settings/GPS there is a warning setting for that.

Hello Gordon

take a look at settings/GPS&sensors

there are (3) settings which could be the reason if they are activated and a power save option of your device is set "GPS off" when screen off

- position lost

- position found

- GPS location

so for test deactivate all

It would seem to be the position loss warning (about the only thing I still have switched on). But why should the position be lost when the GPS is still working (which it is) - just because the screen goes off? (maintain GPS fix when screen off is ON)

Because of the battery saving settings that kill GPS when Locus is in the background.

Locus and Location Services are specifically excluded from the battery saver.

Interesting. I am not familiar with the battery saving internal settings of LG phones.

Is the beep gone when you deactivate the three setings mentioned higher up by balloni55?

Does the GPS really work (stay on)? You can test that by recording a track of say more than one kilometer with the screen off. Preferably on a curvy track. Straight segments in the recorded track would indicate GPS off time.

will do

So, i have now tried again with the position loss warning switched off. I turned the screen off manually while recording a track. No more beeps! Hurrah! Track was still recorded.

But funnily enough when I got home I switched all the programs off - no programs running at all, GPS off as well. As soon as the screen went off, the beeping started! Crazy. Restarted the phone - dead quiet. Seems something (Locus?) is still running although everything is off. Anyway the problem is basically solved. Thanks all.

Although no programs are running, the phone says that Locus is still using battery power.

Hi, Locus is correctly switched off only by two taps on the hardware "back" button or on the switch button in the main menu (visible only in the fulscreen mode).

Oh thanks - I had forgotten that! Must try to remember that!

Two taps on the hardware back button do not turn off Locus on my LG mobile. It's still there. And using the cross, top right hand corner (reduced size, not full screen) seems to turn it off (it's not there any more) - but the mobile says its still using battery. I can't find any 'switch button' in full screen mode.

Yeah, I know but swiping it off the "last used" apps screen does the trick for me.

same here - just have to wait to see if mobile says its still using battery

Gordon, when you double tap the back button - does your system say that Locus is still using the battery? That "It's still there" - what does it mean? Where?

Michal, when I double tap the mobile back button Locus disappears from the screen. However when I then hit the mobile centre square button to show all programs running, I see that Locus is still open.

I see. Don't worry - the "all programs running" is just a list of the last used apps. Not that Locus is still running.
