(GPX) Track Nav Simulation Not Working

Hello,

I have made the necessary change to the config.cfg file to set 5.0 m/s track advancement rate. I have turned OFF the "Auto-GPS On" at Nav start setting.

I import a GPX navigable track and position the start near the red "X" in the center of the screen. I turn Off the GPS and see the gray GPS icon. I select the track and start navigation.

The track should start advancing and navigating by itself but no movement occurs. If I manually pan the map around the route the Nav cues and TTS work as expected. The issue is no automatic course advancement.

Is this feature broken or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Steve

Well, apparently I was confused. I saw some sample videos of Locus self-navigating a track and incorrectly assumed that this functionality was completely built into Locus. Apparently it is not and requires a separate GPS simulation app as well to make it work.

In this case I don't understand the meaning/use of a non-zero value for the track advancement rate in the config.cfg file.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

"self-navigating a track" works in a bit different way. Firstly, it doesn't start on an ordinary GPX imported to Locus. You need a NMEA file (to get the nmea file, you have to convert the gpx first, see https://www.google.com/search?q=gpx+to+nmea&oq=gpx+to+nmea).

1) copy the NMEA file into Locus/cache/nmea folder

2) open Locus GPS control screen > topbar menu > GPS simulation > NMEA > select the file you want to start simulation with

3) the cursor starts moving along the line of the nmea file (it is not visible on map)

The non-zero values for advancement rate in the config.cfg are used precisely for what you got - moving the map manually. The non-zero value just "tells" Locus that the cursor has some virtual speed.

Michal,

Thanks for the explanation. However the objective of my particular simulation is to verify proper GPX format and navigation instructions. This is all a bit more complicated than I was expecting. I was planning on sharing this with some folks/organizations that were working on modifying their GPX files to navigate in Locus. At this point I will probably just leave the instructions to use manual panning. If they want to do more I'll point them toward the Lockito app and let them figure it out.

Thanks,

Steve
