Random Size Waypoint Icons?

Hello,

Was trying to figure out why point icon size was randomly varying when all points were captured by Locus in the same way.

After messing with the point folder settings it appears that this is related to the "general settings" drop down. The following screen capture was made BEFORE messing with the drop-down settings.

Once I changed this setting to one on the other options and finally back to "general settings" the issue appears to have gone away. It would appear that some point properties are not initializing properly.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

could you please describe step by step how you got to this state? I'm unable to simulate it however I "mess up" with the settings. Thanks

Michal,

I have been trying to validate the GPS performance of my phone's camera app against Locus. I have had issues in the past with photo GPS locations, especially with Cell and WiFi turned on. The first test that I did I forgot to disable cell and WiFi by going to airplane mode so I repeated the test again as follows:

1. Erase all points in target Locus points folder.

2. Go outside to a specific point and activate Locus.

3. Wait for GPS to stabilize on the map screen. Occasionally I would also activate the GPS button to see the approximate accuracy.

4. Set a point in Locus by hitting the square "+" on the map screen.

5. Hit "Save" on the point dialog.

6. Switch to the camera app and snap a photo of the nearest landmark.

7. Go to step 2 and repeat.

Same thing happened in this second test. This time the point folder was NOT new so it doesn't appear to be something in the folder initialization. See the attached screenshots.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

thanks for the description but I need to clarify it a bit:

ad 4 - "square "+" on the map screen" - is it ordinary "new point" button placed in the function panel?

ad 6 - "Switch to the camera app" - does it mean you leave Locus and make a photo with the default phone camera app?

Michal,

Yes, and yes.

Thanks,

Hi Steve, I'm sorry but I can't simulate the issue. Something must be missing from your description. Michal

Why does this board TRASH my responses?! It shows them posted but come back an the post is GONE!

Here is another clue... The attached screenshot shows multiple waypoints activated but nowhere near the center of the screen "+". Tapping the point descriptions does NOT cause the descriptions to go away OR the icon to down-size like it should. Panning the map will make the descriptions go away but the icon remains maximized. I don't think that this is how it should work

Hi Steve, I'm not aware of any response trashing... what exactly is missing?

The other clue you sent however indicates something. This is definitely not standard behavior. Did you try restarting Locus? Restarting your mobile? Deleting Locus's temporary data? If not, please do so.

Michal,

Well, nothing is missing NOW! I had to retype my response and re-upload the files a second time.

How do I find and delete Locus temporary data?

Steve, there are two ways:

- standard system way - open system settings > apps > Locus Map > delete data (better back up your tracks and points first via the Backup manager to Dropbox or Google Drive , see https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:backup#backup_to_cloud)

- in-app way - open Locus settings > Miscellaneous > Clear temporary data - no need for the backup but not all temp data are erased

Michal,

Well, either the recent update or restarting the app appears to have fixed the issue... at least for now. Unfortunately, I suspect that this issue, like Arnold, will be back. Never got to phone reboot or clearing temporary data.

Thanks,

Steve
