Custom hardware device as dashboard

Ivan Stenda shared this idea 4 years ago

I am thinking of inventing a hardware device for use as a Locus dashboard not displayed on Android screen, but on a separate device with wireless connection [BTLE / ANT +], weatherproof and mountable to different points, with low power always on display readable in poor conditions [even in the dark].

Original idea is use on bike to display current values and navigation, but it can help to create a complete environment usable with any activity and can bring opportunity to switch Locus as main solution instead of various bike computers, smart watches and others trackers ...

Hello Ivan,

sound for sure very interesting. I'm not market-analytics so I can't say if such a solution should be usable for users, compare to direct mounting of its device on the bike.

Anyway, from the technical point of view, to handle information from Locus Map (and then display them), there currently needs to be an application running on the Android device that is capable to do this. Direct support for custom devices communicating over Bluetooth is currently not in our time-possibilities.

Hello Ivan,

I'm not sure what to do with this topic. It is not an idea related to developing Locus Map, it is not a question, etc ...

Feel free to write to us in case, we may help somehow with your project. Till then, I'm closing this topic.

One way this could be achieved is to use falco tasker plugin on a master device, get locus info, send it via buetooth to eink display android device, and show it using tasker solutions.....

If there was a version of locus for wear that worked on straight android devices, like the full android OS watches like ticwris max, that could also be used on spare phones/tablets
